Episode Summary
Ji Li argues with He Ban Zhu about her contract. Duan Ban Xia is attacked by a mirror demon, saved by Jiu Xuan Ye. Ji Li's love interest is accepted by his mother. Duan Ban Xia is terrorized by pears and the mirror demon, leading to Jiu Xuan Ye protecting her and investigating the demon. Duan Ban Xia recounts a childhood experience that might explain her ability to see demons. Chu You Huang investigates Jiu Xuan Ye. Chi Wang Chuan enters Duan Ban Xia's room through rainwater.

Episode 6 of "The Demon Hunter's Romance" kicks off with Ji Li giving He Ban Zhu some serious side-eye. Turns out, Ji Li signed a five-year contract, expecting to be free as a bird after that. But now, He Ban Zhu is trying to change the deal! Ji Li isn't having it, but He Ban Zhu just keeps talking, basically saying Ji Li has to stay or she'll be ruining everything.
Meanwhile, Duan Ban Xia is home alone, trying some spooky mirror ritual with candles and a pear. But wouldn't you know it, the pear's skin breaks, and suddenly the room goes dark! A ghostly version of Duan Ban Xia appears in the mirror, reaching out! Just in the nick of time, Jiu Xuan Ye shows up and fights the mirror demon, who escapes into the lotus pond.
Back to Ji Li, she's got a sweetheart named Zhou Jingyuan. Ji Li thought she was too low-class for him, but Zhou Jingyuan not only told his mom about her, but Mom's cool with it! Turns out, Mom was a singer too, so she doesn't care about Ji Li's background. The only catch? Zhou Jingyuan isn't the firstborn son, so he won't inherit the family business. But he promises to give Ji Li a fancy wedding.
Ji Li gets home and finds the injured mirror demon, Chi Wang Chuan, chilling in her room. Chi Wang Chuan swears revenge and plans to leave with Ji Li once everything's settled. Since the mirror incident, Duan Ban Xia is terrified of anything mirror-related or even the mention of pears. She has Ting Zhou sell all the mirrors, but then the mirror buyer shows up with a pear, trying to get her to eat it! Duan Ban Xia freaks out and runs, trying to find Jiu Xuan Ye, but no one answers the door. Then, people start chasing her with pears! She trips and falls, and a mother and daughter help her up, but they also want her to eat a pear! She escapes into an alley, only to find pears everywhere! Chi Wang Chuan appears, ready to off her, but Duan Ban Xia's amulet saves her.
Duan Ban Xia runs, with Chi Wang Chuan hot on her heels. Luckily, Jiu Xuan Ye sees her freaking out and rushes to help. Chi Wang Chuan disappears. Jiu Xuan Ye takes Duan Ban Xia home, and when she wakes up, she sees Ting Zhou, which scares her even more. Ting Zhou hugs her to calm her down, but when he offers her medicine, she knocks it over and screams.
Jiu Xuan Ye hears the commotion and bursts in. After hearing the whole story, he realizes the mirror demon can travel through anything that reflects. He orders everything reflective to be removed and the windows covered. Even her medicine has to be drunk from a gourd.
That night, Duan Ban Xia can't sleep and chats with Jiu Xuan Ye through the door. She tells him about being kidnapped as a child and ending up in a strange, upside-down place. She was saved from a wild beast by a boy, but then someone with a gun showed up and they both fell off a cliff. When she woke up, she was back home, but her parents didn't believe her story. That's when she started seeing demons, but she always thought it was just a dream. Now, she's not so sure. She asks Jiu Xuan Ye if it was real, and he says her eyes probably changed because of something traumatic.
Jiu Xuan Ye can't see demons without using Wu Xiang water. To calm Duan Ban Xia, he teaches her a sutra to recite. Later, Chu You Huang arrives with men, demanding Tian Rui's body. Duan Ban Xia overhears and gets worried. Jiu Xuan Ye sets up a barrier around the room and goes with Chu You Huang to the yamen.
Chu You Huang doesn't find any evidence but sends men to search Jiu Xuan Ye's place. Wen Jian arrives to smooth things over.
That night, a thunderstorm wakes Duan Ban Xia. Ting Zhou is asleep beside her. The water Ting Zhou brought her earlier, which was in a gourd, is now gone, and the gourd is shaking. Duan Ban Xia cleans up the spilled water, remembering Jiu Xuan Ye's warning to stay inside. Rainwater seeps through the door, and despite her efforts to clean it up, Chi Wang Chuan enters the room through the water!
