"The Demon Hunter's Romance" Episode 7: Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall... Things Get Messy!
Okay, so episode 7 kicks off with Chi Wangchuan popping up in Dan Banxia's room. Naturally, she's freaked out, but grabs a stick to defend herself. Just in the nick of time, Jiu Xuanye shows up to protect her and tells Dan Banxia to get Tingzhou out of there, pronto.
A fight breaks out, and it's pretty intense. Chu Youhuang, hearing the commotion, jumps in to help. Jiu Xuanye almost has Chi Wangchuan cornered, but then Chu Youhuang uses her sword. Bad move! The sword's reflection allows Chi Wangchuan to escape through it. Jiu Xuanye is not thrilled.
Suddenly, Jiu Xuanye gets super sleepy because of the Hanshan Sword's backlash. He pulls Dan Banxia into the room to sleep. Before he conks out, he gives her a cone and tells her to stab him with it if the Mirror Demon shows up. Oh, and he's tied her hands together. Classic. Dan Banxia struggles to get a drink, accidentally spills water on Jiu Xuanye, and while wiping it off, notices all his scars. Hmm, interesting...
Meanwhile, Ji Li arrives home to find a badly injured Chi Wangchuan chilling in her room. Chi Wangchuan wants to bail ASAP, and Ji Li pretends to agree. But, when Chi Wangchuan is asleep, she sneaks off to see Zhou Jingyuan. She begs him to move away with her. Zhou Jingyuan agrees, and starts packing that night. Big mistake. Chi Wangchuan finds out about their relationship, kills Zhou Jingyuan, and gives Ji Li a pear that was taken from Zhou Jingyuan's body. Ji Li realizes something's wrong with the taste and Chi Wangchuan reveals that the dead man was a scholar. Ji Li is devastated.
The next day, Dan Banxia makes breakfast for Jiu Xuanye and asks about his scars. Jiu Xuanye doesn't even remember his childhood. Dan Banxia stares at him, clearly thinking something over, but Jiu Xuanye doesn't suspect a thing.
Then, Zhou Jingyuan turns up dead at home. Chu Youhuang rushes to the scene. Unlike the other victims, Zhou Jingyuan isn't a dried-up corpse, just aged a bit. Chu Youhuang spots Ji Li wearing a bamboo hat and crying near Zhou Jingyuan's body. She follows Ji Li to a place where she and Zhou Jingyuan used to hang out, where Ji Li mourns him.
Dan Banxia remembers her dream where a boy saved her by getting stabbed with a sword – just like Jiu Xuanye's scars. Until they catch the Mirror Demon, Jiu Xuanye insists on Dan Banxia sticking close to him. Chu Youhuang tells Jiu Xuanye about Zhou Jingyuan's death and they realize the jade pear was taken before it should have been. Jiu Xuanye figures the demon was just impatient.
Chu Youhuang and Jiu Xuanye head to Yunmen Dance Troupe to find Ji Li, but she's already quit. Ji Li meets up with Chi Wangchuan, tearfully apologizes for not being satisfied with him, and says she's ready to live in seclusion with him. Chi Wangchuan is thrilled, but then Ji Li tries to kill him! Chi Wangchuan stops her and drags her through a mirror.
On the other side of the mirror, Ji Li has no memory of the place. Chi Wangchuan tells her it's where she used to live, where she was bullied and cried every day. He says he appeared to help her, killed her tormentors, and has been making her jade pear ever since to keep her young. He insists that even though Ji Li didn't kill anyone herself, the deaths are her fault. Ji Li just wants to be free and accuses Chi Wangchuan of deceiving her. She says she'd be with anyone but him.
Chi Wangchuan slaps Ji Li and reminds her they've been together for more than twenty years and that they have a connection. Ji Li doesn't want to hear it and runs into another room... which is full of mirrors. Creepy!
Finally, Jiu Xuanye and Chu Youhuang arrive and find a giant mirror. Jiu Xuanye touches it and gets sucked in by a powerful force! Cliffhanger!
