Xie Wanghe calls Shao Xingchi and the others to check on the company, urging them to hold down the fort in his absence. Meanwhile, Xie Tiancheng, still bedridden, continues to pressure Wanghe about finding a girlfriend, hinting at a possible connection between him and Xia Fenghua. On a related note, He Tianming informs Fenghua about his mother's fall at work, and she immediately lends him 5,000 yuan.
Due to the overwhelming workload at the delivery station, Fenghua heads back to Beijing, with Wanghe letting her use his car. After she leaves, Wanghe reflects on a conversation with his father, learning that Fenghua's diary is filled with his name, leaving him with mixed emotions.
Meanwhile, Chen Bo and his son, Zhou Yipu, Shao Bingyi, and others are deeply engaged in discussions about how to proceed with their research on the shipwreck. They decide to start by examining local county records and their own family genealogies. On another front, Zhou Yanlin has another encounter with Teacher Bian, the woman from his previous blind date. She asks for his help with cooking, but Yanlin remains hung up on Luo Zhimei, making it clear that he'll wait for her return, no matter what.
Fenghua picks up He Tianming's mother from the hospital, advising her to take care of herself. Thinking of Grandma Ma and Ma Siyi, she calls her own mother and asks her to burn some paper money for Grandma Ma. Under pressure from his wife, Tianming reluctantly asks Fenghua for worker's compensation reimbursement. Fenghua informs him that the medical expenses are fully covered by insurance, thanks to a prior policy.
Overjoyed, Tianming is about to leave when his wife's warning glare forces him to turn back and ask Fenghua for a raise. Fenghua is surprised, and upon hearing his wife's cough, she realizes the situation. She flatly refuses the raise, leaving Tianming's wife fuming, feeling that her good intentions have been unappreciated. Tianming's mother, aware of her son and daughter-in-law's actions, cries and scolds them for their lack of conscience, declaring she wants nothing more to do with them.
The next morning, Tianming apologizes to Fenghua, explaining that he only wants to provide a better life for his family. Understanding his predicament, Fenghua allows Tianming to transfer to Mifeng and agrees to let his family stay at the delivery station.
Similarly, Li Yan persistently tries to set up Zhou Yanlin with another potential partner, discussing the matter with Zhou Yipu. Knowing his son's stubborn nature, Yipu plans to have Grandma Ma vet the potential match first, as she often helped Yanlin with his emotional issues. This statement makes Li Yan realize something is amiss with Yipu.
Seeing the continued decline in Haidian district's data, Meng Wei is furious, especially with CEO Song adding fuel to the fire. He summons Shao Xingchi and Zhou Haikuo, only to learn that Wanghe's father is hospitalized and that Wanghe has been absent for two days. Wei orders them to bring Wanghe back immediately, manipulating him with feigned concern for Tiancheng and outlining the next steps.
Wanghe and Wei discuss how to deal with the competition from Yuntu. Wanghe believes further shortening delivery times is unrealistic, but Wei doesn't want excuses, only results. Feeling the pressure from Wei, Wanghe, in turn, puts pressure and assigns tasks to Haikuo and Xingchi, causing Haikuo's dissatisfaction.
That evening, Wanghe stops by Huazi Express and vents to Fenghua about his ambitions. They reminisce about their childhood, and while Fenghua understands and supports his ambitions, she cannot accept a company that doesn't treat its employees as human beings. They part on bad terms.
Meanwhile, Xingchi accompanies a disgruntled Haikuo for drinks, reassuring him and acknowledging Wanghe's own stress. Haikuo begins to regret quitting his previous job for Wanghe, now feeling lost. Late that night, Wanghe returns home to find them drinking his prized liquor, leaving him exasperated.
