Spoiler Alert
The Mid-Autumn Festival brings several adult children back to Flower Street, where parents eagerly reunite with their kids—except Shao Bingyi, who mysteriously leaves home. Shao Xingchi worries his parents might resume their old arguments, but Liu Yuling reassures him. Meanwhile, Li Yan takes Xia Fenghua to pay respects at Grandma Ma’s memorial, both quietly wondering about the whereabouts of the missing Ma Siyi.
At the Canal Family restaurant, Zhou Yanlin cooks a feast for the gathering families. Gu Alian shares exciting news: Flower Street will undergo a local renovation project next month, sparking optimism. However, the mood shifts when Chen Rui raises a toast to Ma Siyi, prompting the group to honor the absent woman.
After dinner, Li Yan prods Xia Fenghua about her love life, pressing her to find a partner. Xia slips up, hinting at a potential romance, which Li Yan seizes on, urging her not to let hesitation ruin a good match.
Elsewhere, Xie Wanghe dines with his parents, Xie Tiancheng and Liang Haihong, who grill him about his finances. Xie reveals he has ¥70,000-80,000 in savings, a car, and company stock options. Confident he’ll achieve financial freedom post-IPO—or survive a merger if the company fails—he proposes moving his parents to Beijing. Later, while buying wine, Xie spots Xia Fenghua brooding on a bridge. Their conversation turns intimate: Xia confesses feeling stifled in Beijing, admitting she only feels like her bold, fearless self back home.
As fireworks erupt, Xia boldly asks if Xie likes her. He admits his feelings, recalling how her slap during his Beijing business failure motivated him to rebuild. The two kiss under the fireworks, officially starting their relationship.
But doubts linger. Xia later confides in Li Yan, worried Xie still pines for Ma Siyi. Li Yan pragmatically advises that as long as a man stays loyal and provides, his past crushes are harmless—“like celebrity obsessions.”
The next morning, farewells feel bittersweet. Shao Xingchi, who witnessed Xia and Xie’s kiss, hides his heartbreak. Zhou Haikuo learns of his grandfather’s worsening illness, feeling powerless. Back in Beijing, tensions simmer: Shao Xingchi quietly pampers his overworked employees with extra meals, Chen Rui updates Zhou Haikuo on his grandfather’s health, and the newly-coupled Xia and Xie juggle work and romance.
During a New Year’s Eve toast to 2015, Xia collapses with nausea. He Tianming alerts Xie to her alarming symptoms: hair loss, vomiting, and bleeding gums. After a hospital visit, Xia receives a dire brain scan diagnosis, leaving her shattered as she staggers out of the clinic.
Xia Fenghua and Xie Wanghe’s relationship faces immediate strain as her health crisis unfolds, while Shao Xingchi’s unspoken feelings and Zhou Haikuo’s family struggles hint at deeper conflicts ahead.
