Spoiler Alert
Let’s rewind to a frosty 1998 winter night where drama unfolds on the Dayuan Railway. A slick thief disguised as a train officer swipes valuables from sleeping passengers like a ninja in the night. But rookie cop Guo Pengfei (our tenacious hero) isn’t having it. After a month-long stakeout, he finally nabs the crook in the sleeper car. Victory dance? Not so fast.
At the police awards ceremony, Guo’s prepped his Oscar-worthy acceptance speech—only for Captain Cui to drop a bombshell anonymous letter mid-celebration. Turns out, crime duo Jinjiao and Yinjiao accused Guo of taking a shady "holiday bonus" from them. Our boy gets benched faster than you can say "framed!" Post-Lunar New Year, Guo returns to work, but Captain Cui sends him right back to timeout. Ouch.
Meanwhile, mob boss Fo Ye does some light B&E at A’Lan’s place. Fridge raid? Score: one human cornea. Closet dig? Jackpot: a jacket belonging to his rival Cai Shen. Plot twist! Fo Ye’s gobsmacked to learn A’Lan and Cai Shen’s been cozying up behind his back. Someone’s getting ghosted.
Guo (now part-time detective) stalks Jiang Jifeng, whose wallet gets "accidentally" bumped by a pickpocket. Aha! The thief snags Jiang’s contact info—likely tied to that stolen cornea. Guo recruits cop buddy Li Hongqi for a sting: Jiang agrees to meet the thieves, armed with Li’s phone for tracking.
The kidnappers force Jiang to dance his heart out on a dance pad in a crowded mall (karma for skipping leg day?). Exhausted, Jiang rage-quits until A’Lan calls him to a rooftop showdown. She demands he toss the ransom bag into a dumpster. Plot twist #2: The bag’s stuffed with scrap paper. Foiled! A’Lan rage-screams via binoculars as Guo and Li chase a mystery motorcyclist.
More chaos: Guo fakes a "Hong Kong cash" ransom to lure the thieves, but the elevator Jiang’s in STOPS MID-DROP. Trapped and sweating, Jiang gets a threatening call from A’Lan (who’s onto the cops). Meanwhile, heartbroken Siyan wallows in bed, and Captain Cui pressures Guo to find the cornea and missing sisters Fang Hui. Stress + exhaustion = Guo collapsing in the station square. Nurse Li Xiaolian revives him, but he hallucinates her as Fang Hui. Awk-ward.
Side Quests:
- Bumbling thief Dachun tries to rob a teacher on a bus…but she still lets him go after he returns her hairpin. #CrimeFail
- Undercover cop Li Tang tails a sketchy salesman (Fu Jinjie) and a chic woman on a train. Their flirty tea date? Definitely sus.
Final Boss Cliffhanger: Fo Ye texts A’Lan a cryptic message, leaving Cai Shen baffled. And Guo? He’s alive but not well, nibbling bread from concerned buddy Dong Fugui.
Verdict: This episode’s a rollercoaster of heists, betrayals, and elevator panic attacks. Will Guo clear his name? Why’s A’Lan playing both sides? And when will Siyan get a tub of ice cream? Tune in next time!
