Episode Summary

Guo Pengfei returns to the Anti-Theft Unit, hunting thieves Jinjiao/Yinjiao who framed him. Fang Hui flees an arranged marriage, while Jiang Jifeng clashes with crime boss Fo Ye. Bumbling thief Dong Fugui gets caught, Dachun pines for Fo Ye’s wife, and nurse Li Xiaolian uncovers a high-stakes auction.

Let’s rewind to the frostbitten winter of 1999, folks! Our fiery cop Guo Pengfei storms back to the Dayuan Anti-Theft Unit after a suspension (thanks to those slippery twin thieves Jinjiao and Yinjiao framing him). Revenge is a dish best served cold—literally, since Guo’s camping outside a nightclub to catch the brothers targeting drunk patrons. But hey, at least he’s got two backup officers to share the chilly stakeout duty.

Meanwhile, family drama sizzles hotter than a wok. Fang Zhao’s playing matchmaker, trying to pawn off his reluctant sister Fang Hui on Guo Pengfei. Fang Hui? Not having it. She rage-quits dinner after learning she’s being shipped to a wedding photoshoot the next day. Talk about parental pressure! Over at the nightclub, Jinjiao’s doing his usual creepy loitering routine. Guo pounces when Jinjiao "pickpockets" a drunk guy… only to find sunflower seeds in the thief’s hand. Cue the villainous cackles—Jinjiao framed Guo again. The unit’s Captain Cui chews Guo out like expired dumpling filling. Rough day at the office, huh?

Spoiler Alert: Fang Hui pulls a midnight fling, ghosting Guo and hopping a train south with friends. Bye, fiancé! But Guo’s too busy chasing crooks to notice until he’s left waiting at the bridal studio. Awk-ward.

Elsewhere, lowlife Dong Fugui tries swiping a wallet strapped to an old man’s pants (rookie mistake!). Anti-Theft Unit’s Li Hongqi busts him, uncovering a $200k check in the wallet. Dong’s sob story about stealing for his sick mom earns him a lecture, not sympathy. Over in the shadows, shady cop Jiang Jifeng gets summoned by crime boss "Fo Ye," who leaves creepy eyeball-shaped pastries as a warning. Li Hongqi sniffs out Jiang’s lies but loses him in a taxi chase. Classic cat-and-mouse!

Subplot Soup:

  • The MLM Trap: Ma Mingzhu’s deep into a pyramid scheme, dragging Dachun and Xiaochun to culty seminars. Xiaochun tries reasoning with her, but Ma’s drinking the Kool-Aid.
  • Crush Alert: Bumbling pickpocket Dachun falls hard for a mysterious woman who drops a red hairpin. He daydreams reuniting with her… until she turns out to be Fo Ye’s wife. Yikes. Fo Ye’s now digging into Dachun’s crew—including Xiaochun, who lost a finger in gang drama.
  • Medical Mystery: Nurse Li Xiaolian hears about a $3M jade ring auction. Someone’s taking notes…

Final Feels: Guo Pengfei’s dialing Fang Hui’s number like a lovesick teen. When she finally answers at a spa? She fakes a wrong number. Ouch. Meanwhile, exiled thief He Xiaozhu tries (and fails) to join a rival gang. Guess it’s time to skip town!
