The Sister vs. The Crime Lord
Li Xiaolian’s trip to the rehab hospital to visit her brother Li Xiaojun takes a wild turn when Fo Ye ambushes her on the bus ride home. He’s onto her plan to transfer Xiaojun to another facility—and he’s not buying her "bad hospital food" excuse. Cue the shady backroom deal: Fo Ye recruits Que Zai’s henchman Baiban to kidnap Xiaolian, promising him a fat paycheck. Spoiler: These two villains are way too excited about their evil partnership.
Meanwhile, Guo Pengfei (our perpetually stressed hero) throws hands with Fo Ye in a brutal showdown that nearly ends with Guo getting choked to death. The two end up handcuffed together in a messy scuffle where Siyan stabs Hongqi repeatedly. Key detail: Siyan’s desperate grab for the handcuff key ends with our brave officer bleeding out as backup arrives. Grab tissues, folks—Hongqi doesn’t make it.
Back at HQ, Chef Mao serves up Hongqi’s favorite meal in a tear-jerking memorial scene. Even hardened cop Guo Pengfei cracks, smoothing out Hongqi’s bedsheet while clutching a candy his late buddy gave him. Ouch, my heart.
Twists, Betrayals & Fake Trophies
After surviving the Fo Ye showdown, Guo Pengfei gets a hospital visit from Director Cui, who casually drops that the "award" trophy used to bait the thieves was a fake. Plot twist! The courtroom epilogue delivers harsh sentences: Fo Ye gets nailed for murder and grand theft, Xiaolian for orchestrating heists, Siyan for arson and killings, and the rest of the gang (including Uncle Guang) face their own punishments. But the real gut-punch? Hongqi’s funeral. Even the cafeteria chef mourns him by cooking his favorite dishes.
That Cliffhanger Though
Just when you think it’s over—BAM! Guo Pengfei gets a panicked call from Fang Xue: Her father Fang Zhao’s been kidnapped. On a train ride back to Dayuan, Guo and Fang Hui are held at knifepoint by two amateur terrorists (who hilariously lose their bullet down a toilet mid-bomb plot).
