Spoiler Alert

Welcome back to Watch Your Back, where 1995’s grungy streets serve up crime, chaos, and a whole lot of yikes moments. Let’s dive into Episode 4’s wild ride!

Thieves, Tempers & Tragedies .

The episode kicks off with the thief squad’s chaotic hustle. Tongjiao (the ringleader with a serious attitude problem) strong-arms passengers at Dayuan Station, selling lighters like it’s a mob operation. Meanwhile, his partner Wu Xia pickpockets distracted victims. After a successful heist, they hit up a diner, where Tongjiao—despite his sky-high blood pressure—sneaks booze like a rebellious teen. Enter Jinjiao, the crew’s stern mom-friend, who scolds him: "You wanna die before payday? Cops are cracking down!"

But Tongjiao’s luck runs out when hotheaded cop Guo Pengfei spots him mid-theft. A fistfight erupts (Guo’s signature "three punches, two kicks" move never disappoints), and Tongjiao collapses… but not from the beating. Turns out, the guy’s heart gives out. Guo shrugs it off as a con—until the ambulance leaves with a literal body bag. Jinjiao and Wu Xia watch in horror, and let’s just say… Guo’s about to get a very angry performance review from his boss.

Sewers, Secret Tunnels & Soaked Salesmen .️♂️

Guo and partner Li Tang follow a shady business duo through alleyways (because obviously they’re avoiding cops). Plot twist: A flowerpot falls, smashing a fire hydrant and drenching everyone. But the real kicker? Guo discovers a hidden tunnel in a clothing store’s fitting room. Bingo—the perfect spot for swapping stolen cash. This ain’t amateur hour; it’s a full-blown criminal network.

Meanwhile, rookie thieves Dachun, Siyan, and He Xiaozhu bumble through a bus heist. He Xiaozhu side-eyes Dachun’s reckless earring snatch like, "Do you even stealth, bro?" But their antics don’t go unnoticed—local pickpockets are taking notes.

Debt, Dates & Drama .

Li Hongqi’s home life implodes when loan sharks show up demanding repayment for his wife’s shady debts. Over in Rom-Com Land™, Dachun awkwardly asks out Ma Mingzhu via He Xiaozhu (who, let’s be real, deserves a Best Wingman award).

Guo, haunted by the Tongjiao incident, ghosts his boss’s calls and wanders the streets. A case of mistaken identity on a bus leads to him beating up another thief (hero complex? Check.). But when he tries to track a woman who looks like suspect Fang Hui? Nope. Just another dead end.

Eye-Ball Black Markets & Blackouts .️⚡

In the episode’s creepiest subplot, thief elder Fo Ye visits doctor Li Xiaolian to discuss… selling corneas. Yep, you read that right. Their casual chat about organ trafficking is chilling. Later, a motorcycle causes a blackout-causing car crash, leaving an entire hotel dark—and corrupt official Mayor Gu’s embezzled cash gets swiped. Karma’s a thief, huh?

Final Thoughts .

With the cornea heist still unsolved and Guo’s career on thin ice, Episode 4 leaves us with more questions than answers. Will Jinjiao seek revenge? Can Guo redeem himself? And why does every alley in this town have a secret tunnel?!
