On the third day of the Lunar New Year, He Suye is preparing to return to Hang city when he encounters Wang Chang, a young boy, who seems visibly nervous and lost. Moved by the boy's polite and understanding nature, He Suye gives him a red envelope (traditional New Year's money gift). He Sheng, Suye's father, also takes the nurse's advice and bids his son a proper farewell, watching him leave.

Back in Hang city, He Suye immediately messages Shen Xifan, using the excuse of asking for a birthday gift to get her to meet him downstairs. He gives her two jars of red beans and several recipes for medicinal red bean dishes. Red beans are known for their ability to reduce swelling and promote healing, and the dishes are also believed to improve one's mood. Having experienced a painful breakup himself, He Suye empathizes with Shen Xifan. His advice to her is that when you lose the ability to love someone else, you must first love yourself. He urges her to stop overthinking and hurting herself.

Later, He Suye visits his maternal grandfather, Yu Liren, and reveals that his father, He Sheng, has a new girlfriend and that they seem to have a good relationship. Although Yu Liren feels for his daughter (He Suye's deceased mother), he understands that it's time to let go of the past, and it's normal for someone He Sheng's age to find a companion.

He Suye understands his grandfather's point and decides to spend every New Year with him and his mother's memory, especially since He Sheng doesn't need him. Yu Liren happily agrees. He suddenly mentions that Fang Kexin abruptly decided to pursue a doctorate and change her research focus, asking He Suye if he didn't teach her well. He Suye responds that her choices are her own and there's no need to interfere.

Shen Xifan receives her acceptance letter from a Swiss university. She's thrilled but finds she can choose between February and October enrollment. After careful consideration, she decides to enroll in October. This allows her to complete seven years at the hotel, save more money, and, most importantly, spend more time with He Suye. Her friends, Xu Xiangya and Lin Yishen, see through her true intentions. Back home, Shen Xifan tells her parents about her decision, and they support her.

Shen Xifan wants to share the news with He Suye, but she can't find the right moment to tell him. She drafts and deletes several messages. Just as she's about to send another message, she sees He Suye's WeChat status change to "typing...", but she receives no message after waiting for a long time.

Grandma Liu, a former hotel resident, suddenly has a health episode. Fortunately, a cleaning staff member finds Shen Xifan in time. Although Grandma Liu believes it's just her old ailment acting up, Shen Xifan insists she go to the hospital and mentions that she knows a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Grandma Liu agrees to give it a try. Shen Xifan then contacts He Suye to schedule an appointment for Grandma Liu.

Soon after, Shen Xifan brings Grandma Liu to He Suye's clinic. Their eyes meet, and sparks fly. He Suye inquires about Grandma Liu's symptoms. Because the CT scan is blurry, he asks Fang Kexin to take Grandma Liu for a new one. Alone with He Suye, Shen Xifan hesitates about telling him about her delayed enrollment. He Suye senses something and directly asks about her study abroad plans. Learning that she won't be leaving until October, he's a little upset that she kept it from him, remarking that she's physically fine, just a bit "heartless."

After the examination, Grandma Liu inquires about Shen Xifan and He Suye's relationship, sensing that something is going on between them. Grandma Liu tells Shen Xifan that sometimes you think you're firm in your decisions and won't be influenced by anyone, but you can't hide your true feelings. Inspired by Grandma Liu's words, Shen Xifan's mind is filled with thoughts of He Suye.

Early the next morning, He Suye messages Shen Xifan, asking if she's tried the red bean medicinal dishes. Shen Xifan sends him a photo of the dishes her father made. Soon after, Zhao Ze is discharged from the hospital. He Suye personally sees him off. Zhao Ze asks He Suye to say goodbye to Shen Xifan for him, and He Suye readily agrees.
