Spoiler Alert
The episode opens with Shen Xifan coming home from work to find He Suye waiting for her at the bus stop outside her apartment complex. Their reunion is sweet, marked by a heartfelt embrace. He Suye, ever the caring boyfriend, cooks dinner for Xifan. She updates him on her ex, Yan Heng, officially moving out, expressing her gratitude for He Suye's unwavering support. She feels like she's finally moving on from her past shadows.
Later, Xifan tells her parents about the final breakup with Yan Heng. Her parents, Shen's Father and Shen's Mother, are fully supportive of her decisions and express their desire to have He Suye over for a family dinner. Shen's Mother, wanting Xifan to get some fresh air, takes her for a walk. Xifan, needing a rescue, messages He Suye, who cleverly uses the opportunity to make a good impression on her parents. They tactfully give the young couple some space.
The next day, Xu Xiangya, wanting some fun, suggests a double date with Xifan, He Suye, herself and Lin Yishen. Xifan happily agrees, and Xiangya generously offers to cover all expenses. The weekend finds the foursome at a park, enjoying the flowers. Xiangya asks He Suye to take photos, but his skills are, to put it mildly, lacking. The photos are hilariously bad, and he's quickly demoted to carrying everyone's bags.
Lin Yishen, with his superior photography skills, takes over, much to everyone's relief. He and He Suye bond over their shared experience of "boyfriend duties," forming a comical "bromance." He Suye and Xifan share a tender moment, culminating in a kiss amidst the flowers, which Lin Yishen captures and shares with them.
Xifan shows the photos and videos to her parents, who are delighted. Both she and He Suye set the pictures as their phone backgrounds. Meanwhile, Grandma Liu, who Xifan has been caring for and He Suye has been treating, shows significant improvement. She decides to move abroad to be with her children, gifting He Suye and Xifan a painting of a peony as a token of her gratitude and best wishes.
Back home, He Suye and Xifan hang the painting. While searching for tools, Xifan stumbles upon the key ring she gave He Suye, which he had previously pretended to lose. Xifan calls him out on his little scheme, and He Suye admits he kept it intentionally, revealing he had feelings for her even back then.
Early the next morning, Xifan and He Suye are walking hand-in-hand when she remembers a photo He Suye once posted of licorice soaking in water. She asks about it, but he brushes it off. Later, at the TCM building, Xifan overhears a conversation that makes her suspect He Suye had ulterior motives from the start. He denies it, playfully accusing her of being the one who was interested first. Xifan quickly clarifies that she was still with Yan Heng at the time and had no intention of falling for him at first sight.
After a late-night snack, back at home, Xifan has a surprise for He Suye. She presents him with a small box containing a ring she bought. She declares that since she's "caught" him, she intends to take responsibility. She says the old key ring doesn't count, and this is the real deal. He Suye, expecting a proposal with the ring on her ring finger, is visibly disappointed when she puts it on his middle finger instead. Seeing his reaction, Xifan comforts him with a loving kiss.
