In episode 21 of "The Best Thing," the Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, arrives. He Suye plans to accompany Yu Liren to visit and pay respects at the grave of Yu Liren's mother, Yu Nianxiang. He Sheng is unable to return home due to work, which disappoints He Suye. The thought of his own mother's final moments, particularly her loss of dignity, weighs heavily on He Suye.
Just then, Shen Xifan arrives at He Suye's door, brightening his mood with her radiant smile and a large bouquet of tulips. Later, at the gravesite, He Suye tells his deceased mother that he has a girlfriend and that his research project is progressing. Yu Liren notices He Suye's sadness regarding his father's absence and reassures him, reminding him that He Sheng has many responsibilities.
To thank Shen Xifan, Yu Liren has He Suye video call her, inviting her and her family to visit the herbal garden for a spring outing. Shen Xifan readily agrees. Back home, she tells her parents about the invitation. Shen's Mother excitedly prepares, and Shen Xifan specifically requests that they avoid mentioning family details to prevent upsetting Yu Liren and He Suye.
The next day, Shen Xifan, Shen's Father, and Shen's Mother visit the herbal garden. The two families enjoy their time together, discovering they've crossed paths before—Yu Liren is the elderly gentleman who enjoys watching chess games in their neighborhood.
Meanwhile, Shen Xifan and He Suye are clearly smitten with each other. He Suye is visibly saddened when his grandfather speaks of his mother, and Shen Xifan realizes why He Suye loves tulips so much. Similarly, Shen Xifan is a ray of light for He Suye, her presence illuminating his world.
At dinner, Yu Liren reminisces about the young couple's relationship, recalling the time he took He Suye's place at the clinic. Shen Xifan learns that He Suye's alcohol tolerance is better than she thought, realizing he had pretended to be drunk previously. He Suye's playful deception is revealed. Yu Liren also reveals that he owns the herbal garden, with He Suye having invested as well, which surprises Shen Xifan.
Back home, He Suye tries to play it off with feigned drunkenness, but Shen Xifan playfully calls him out, pretending to take his pulse and teasingly accusing him of being "heartless." She threatens to remove his ring, playfully forcing him to admit that he was the one who pursued her.
At work, He Suye messages Shen Xifan, apologizing for his previous actions. Shen Xifan playfully accepts his apology. Lin Yishen secures a major event for the hotel, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) forum, but Xu Xiangya and others are unenthusiastic. Lin Yishen wonders if He Suye will attend, given the event's relevance, suggesting He Suye could serve as a consultant.
He Suye waits for Shen Xifan at the bus stop, explaining why he previously hung up on her and having his colleagues record a video to prove his point. Shen Xifan mentions the forum, and He Suye says his grandfather might attend, but he's unsure about himself. The next day, the hospital director informs He Suye that he's been given the opportunity to present his project at the medical association forum, urging him to prepare his report. Li Jie and others are going out for dinner when they see Fang Kexin giving an umbrella to a senior colleague, leaving Li Jie feeling uneasy.
