He Suye and Shen Xifan's relationship progresses amidst their busy schedules. Suye's research gets accepted into a summit, leading to a celebratory date with Xifan. The episode opens with He Suye swamped with work, forcing him to postpone his date with Shen Xifan. Meanwhile, Xifan hangs out at a bar with Xu Xiangya and Lin Yishen, where they vent about their jobs. Xifan and Xiangya are ready to quit, but Yishen is still on the fence.
Later, Suye finishes his report around 9 PM and messages Xifan, but gets no reply. He calls Yishen, who tells him Xifan is already home, much to Suye's surprise, as he expected her to be out late.
Back home, Suye finds Xifan on the couch. She's drawn a portrait of him, complete with a tea leaf on his face. They playfully banter about the leaf's meaning, but their cozy moment is interrupted when Li Jie bursts in, drunk and heartbroken because Fang Kexin is having dinner with other colleagues, and he assumes she's on a date.
Xifan leaves, and Suye, suppressing his annoyance, takes care of Li Jie. The next morning, Suye tells Li Jie that he's changed the door code and not to come over unannounced. However, he also gives Li Jie some advice, telling him to get the facts straight instead of wallowing in suspicion.
The following period is a busy one for both Suye and Xifan. Suye makes Xifan's drawing his profile picture, delighting her. On the weekend, Xifan visits Suye, and they enjoy a quiet time at home, with Xifan studying German and Suye working on his thesis. Suye asks Xifan to stay the night, and she playfully replies that it depends on his "performance," also curious about what he's been so busy with, which Suye keeps secret.
At the hospital, Li Jie asks Kexin about her dinner with her colleagues, and he's relieved to learn they just shared a ride. However, Kexin is busy and declines Li Jie's invitation, leaving him dejected again when he hears she's transferring to another city next week.
Suye's research gets selected for a summit, and he immediately shares the good news with Xifan, inviting her to dinner to make up for lost time. Xifan is thrilled, and they enjoy a romantic evening, with Xifan expressing how proud she is of her accomplished boyfriend.
The day of the Chinese Medical Summit arrives. Yu Liren brings Suye to the hotel, mentioning that He Sheng, Suye's father and a cardiac expert, will also attend. He encourages Suye to talk to his father and resolve their issues.
At the hotel, preparations are underway. Yu Liren and Suye spot Xifan, and they exchange smiles, pleasing Yu Liren. While Yu Liren heads to the event, Suye compliments Xifan's appearance, making her happy. While greeting guests, Xifan meets He Sheng and guides him to the registration area.
Yu Liren gives a speech, and He Sheng messages Suye, asking about his lunch plans. Suye says his grandfather has invited some Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) experts for lunch. During the lunch break, Suye joins his grandfather and the TCM experts, while He Sheng eats medicinal cuisine alone. He Sheng notices Xifan and Suye's Close behavior, starting to suspect their relationship. After meeting with Suye, Xifan returns to work and realizes that He Sheng is Suye's father.
