In Episode 27 of "The Best Thing," Shen Xifan is torn about studying abroad. She confides in He Suyethat she wants to stay in China to care for her mother's health. He Suye, knowing Xifan's lifelong dream of seeing the world, encourages her to pursue her studies. He assures her that he'll be her support system and help take care of her family.

Meanwhile, Shen's Mother reaches a milestone, completing her fifteenth chemotherapy session. Her health has significantly improved, and the family celebrates with a final chemo appointment. Because open flames aren't allowed in the hospital, Xifan creatively uses a "fire basin" animation on her phone for her mother to "step over," completing a traditional ritual.

Later, while organizing her mother's medical files, Xifan's mother discovers her daughter's plan to decline her visa. Shen's mother, unlike He Suye, doesn't want Xifan to give up on her dream.

He Suye is getting rave reviews for his lectures at the medical school. He decides to create a course group chat but realizes the need for an assistant. He appoints a reluctant Li Jie to the role.

Before Xifan's departure, He Suye and Yu Liren visit the Shen family for a farewell dinner. Yu Liren reassures Xifan that he and He Suye will take care of everything at home and provides her with some essential medicines for her trip.

As Xifan packs, she and He Suye discuss her staying home with her parents that night and her wish for him not to see her off at the airport. He Suye, though heartbroken, helps her pack. Xifan finds a notebook where He Suye has been meticulously recording medicinal cuisine and Chinese medicine recipes for her. Deeply moved, she rushes to He Suye's place and embraces him.

The next morning, Xifan's parents accompany her to the airport. After tearful goodbyes and final reminders, they watch her go through security. Xifan then sees He Suye in the crowd. Overwhelmed with emotion, she tears up. He Suye sends her a message encouraging her to explore the world. Before entering the gate, Xifan points to a bracelet on her wrist, a silent exchange between them.

In the following days, He Suye throws himself into his work but often finds himself reminiscing about Xifan, looking at their photos. Xifan, too, misses him, sending videos and handwritten letters detailing her mother's improving health, thanks to Yu Liren's health exercises and her father's constant care. He Suye's letters express his longing for Xifan.

He Suye joins a medical team providing free clinics in rural areas, focusing on the health of the elderly. A colleague sees a drawing Xifan made for He Suye and calls him a "green tea guy," finally making He Suye understand the drawing's true meaning.

After finishing his work, He Suye video calls Xifan, expressing his disappointment that his girlfriend has an avatar that insults him. Xifan was supposed to return home next month, but she gets an opportunity for a two-month internship at a six-star hotel, a highly competitive position with only five slots. She tells He Suye, meaning she can't return to China yet.
