Ling Miaomiao and Mu Sheng hold hands while heading toward the valley exit when a small figure darts into their path—Douya, who had entered the valley earlier. Meanwhile, Mu Yao supports an injured Liu Fuyi as they retreat, enraging the Water Demon King. Unfazed, the demon lord reveals his wife has already lured the "yin-blood" they need into the valley. Though simple-minded villagers Cui Cui and Douya remain unharmed by dark magic, Douya insists on finding her father, who ventured into the valley to save her ailing mother. Despite his gruff exterior, Mu Sheng agrees to help, proving to Ling Miaomiao that his cold demeanor hides compassion.

The group discovers villagers trapped in water cocoons, including Douya’s father—lifeless but still warm. Ling Miaomiao employs modern medical techniques while Mu Sheng secretly uses a dangerous healing spell, reviving the man only to collapse from the physical toll. Realizing Mu Sheng’s sacrifice, Ling Miaomiao confronts him, but their escape is interrupted by the Water Demon Queen’s arrival. Mu Sheng orders Cui Cui to evacuate the group while he stays to fight, weakened from the spell. The queen exploits his vulnerability, ensnaring him with water tendrils. Against orders, Ling Miaomiao sneaks back and distracts the queen with improvised fire attacks, triggering Mu Sheng’s explosive transformation as he tears off his spiritual headband.

Elsewhere, Mu Yao and Liu Fuyi are ambushed by villagers under the manipulative "Celestial Official" Tian Guan. He spins a tale of martyrdom: Twenty years ago, his master trapped the Water Demon Queen using a barrier that killed their entire sect. Tian Guan now plans to collapse the mountain with a "Mountain-Severing Talisman" to destroy the demons—even if it buries innocent lives. When Mu Yao exposes the collapsing barrier’s instability, Tian Guan silences her with a memory-erasing curse.

Back in the valley, Ling Miaomiao calms a feral Mu Sheng after the Water Demon Queen flees, gently retying his headband to suppress his demonic energy. As earthquakes rock the valley, Mu Yao and Liu Fuyi race to rescue them while Tian Guan’s plan backfires—the trapped villagers, including Douya’s reunited family, cannot escape the Water Demon King’s barrier. Cui Cui sacrifices himself to re-enter the collapsing valley, urging the heroes to flee.

In a tragic twist, Tian Guan learns the Water Demon King and Queen were once peaceful spirits driven to vengeance by human persecution. As the mountain crumbles, Liu Fuyi strains to hold the rubble at bay, Mu Yao charges into the chaos, and Ling Miaomiao clings to a remorseful Mu Sheng—whose unleashed power may have sealed their fate.
