Love Game in Eastern Fantasy: Episode 26

Spoiler Alert

Our broody hero Liu Fuyi finally drops the angst shield and spills his tragic backstory to Mu Yao. Turns out, Little Fuyi had a rough start: orphaned at six after his bandit parents were executed, he wandered until kind villagers in Liuru Village took him in. These folks didn’t judge him for his parents’ crimes, dressing him in hand-me-downs and feeding him like family. But here’s the kicker: One day, young Fuyi rescued a ragged girl in the mountains… who turned out to be a yao (demon). Naively thinking she was just another orphan, he secretly brought her food and clothes. Big mistake. The demon slaughtered the entire village while he was away. Devastated, Fuyi killed her in revenge, later vowing to hunt demons to atone. Mu Yao’s heart breaks for him—because, newsflash, none of this was his fault.

Meanwhile, in the "Let’s Solve the Apocalypse (Maybe?)" Corner…

The gang’s still scrambling to stop the impending "Heaven’s Doom" crisis, but Ling Miaomiao and Mu Sheng hit a dead end. To kill time, they crash a storytelling session where the name "Ziji" pops up. Cue the detective mode! They track down the tale’s author, Jiyue Langjun, only to find a mile-long queue of fans. But when they drop "Ziji," they’re fast-tracked into the mansion.

Plot twist: Jiyue Langjun isn’t the real writer. He confesses he plagiarized stories from a box of magic pearls (actually tears) found in the ruins of a burned-down brothel, Huazhe. The pearls contain memories of the courtesans, including one from Mu Sheng’s mom, Seductive Lady. Turns out, she fell for a nobleman (Qingyi Hou), got pregnant with Mu Sheng, then… vanished. The brothel’s owner, demoness Liu Niang, left a red pearl and a cryptic message: "Find the child." Oh, and Jiyue Langjun ominously tells Miaomiao, "Only one of you can wake up." Cool, cool, no pressure.

Mu Sheng’s Existential Crisis™

Learning his mom might’ve altered his memories (hence his missing childhood recollections), Mu Sheng spirals. Did she abandon him? Does she even care? Reluctantly, he agrees to meet Liu Niang for answers. Meanwhile, Liu Fuyi and Mu Yao revisit his childhood village—only to find the supposedly dead villagers alive and thriving. They even recognize grown-up Fuyi, affectionately calling his childhood nickname "Mao Dan" (Fuzzy Egg… sure). The villagers credit their survival to a mysterious savior, Shi Niangzi, who healed them a decade ago.

Demon B&B and Family Drama

At Shi Niangzi’s house, Fuyi senses demonic vibes from her husband Li Zhun and attacks—only to learn Li Zhun’s just a sickly human being treated with magical ice silkworms. Awkward! Meanwhile, Mu Sheng and Miaomiao arrive at Liu Niang’s demon-friendly village, where Shangxianyue (his weapon) randomly tries to attack Liu Niang. Awkward x2. Liu Niang reveals she built this sanctuary for Seductive Lady and takes Mu Sheng to his old home, preserved perfectly. Talk about emotional whiplash.

The Big Questions:

  • Why did Seductive Lady erase Mu Sheng’s memories?
  • Is Liu Niang friend or foe?
  • HOW ARE THOSE VILLAGERS ALIVE?! (Shi Niangzi’s "healing" vibes shady AF.)
  • And what’s with Jiyue Langjun’s creepy "one of you" warning?

Stay tuned… because this show’s tossing plot twists like confetti at a demon wedding.
