Yu Menglong as Nan Fengyi
Nan Fengyi, whose real name is Bai Zeyi (白泽意), is a fifth-rank officer in the Ministry of Justice. He's known for his cool, aloof demeanor and a sharp, somewhat cynical mind. He often says one thing while meaning another, a classic "tsundere" personality.
He works as a demon hunter, but to conceal his true, powerful abilities, he pretends to be the student of Meng Xizhou, creating an unusual "female master, male apprentice" dynamic.
Nan Fengyi's greatest ambition is to recover the lost Shan hai Tu (a mystical painting or record of some kind) and clear his family name. However, he's unaware that the Shanhai Tu was part of a desperate bargain his father made with Li Shiyi to save Nan Fengyi's life.

Li Zixuan as Meng Xizhou
Meng Xizhou is the daughter of Li Shiyi, renowned as the world's greatest demon hunter. However, burdened by her own lack of talent in the family craft, Xizhou keeps her aspirations of following in her father's footsteps a closely guarded secret. She ekes out a living in Chang Le City by selling haunted houses, a profession reflecting her somewhat macabre sense of humor.
Beneath a veneer of practicality, Xizhou is deeply insecure and sensitive, harboring an unusual perspective on love: she is only capable of experiencing attraction towards those who do not reciprocate her feelings. This "one-sided love" philosophy complicates her relationships and keeps her emotionally guarded. The arrival of Nan Fengyi in Chang Le City disrupts Xizhou's carefully constructed world. As their paths intertwine, Xizhou embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning to confront her insecurities and, ultimately, to accept the possibility of being loved.

Bei Gongshuo is the crown prince of Dazhou and the favored heir of Emperor Mingzong, Bei Gongheng. A fervent believer in the equality of all living things, Bei Gongshuo possesses a youthful idealism bordering on naivete. Kind-hearted and fiercely loyal, he values friendship and righteousness above all else. In his leisure time, he indulges in a passion for storybooks and collects renowned paintings, often losing himself in the fictional worlds of his "two-dimensional" heroes and heroines. Upon encountering Meng Xizhou, Bei Gongshuo becomes convinced that she is a divine maiden. While he never forces his affections upon her, he remains a steadfast protector, offering unwavering support and ultimately aiding her in the climactic battle against the malevolent demon Miaoyun.
Zhong Lili as Du Yuelian
Du Yuelian is the only daughter of Du Fenglei, the revered leader of the Celestial Master's Order. A skilled demon hunter with a mastery of various magical artifacts, Yuelian possesses exceptional prowess in combatting supernatural threats. However, a tragic event in her childhood has left her emotionally scarred. At the age of eight, she witnessed her mother's accidental death, impaled by a demon while using her father's enchanted umbrella. This trauma extinguished Yuelian's youthful joy, creating a deep rift between her and her father and fueling a burning hatred for all demonic beings. The arrival of Nan Fengyi and Meng Xizhou in her life unexpectedly paves the way for reconciliation with her father. However, this newfound peace is shattered when Situ Hanshan, a sinister figure, uses dark magic to impersonate Du Fenglei. In a devastating turn of events, Yuelian is forced to confront and ultimately slay the imposter, unknowingly killing her own father. He Hua as Empress Miaoyun
Empress Miaoyun initially appears to be the epitome of a benevolent and virtuous imperial consort. She is the stepmother to Prince Bei Gongshuo, the son of the former empress, and treats him with apparent maternal affection. However, this gentle facade hides a much darker reality.
In truth, Miaoyun is a jiaoren, a being from Chinese mythology, similar to a mermaid, with a deep-seated resentment towards humans. She possesses powerful illusion magic, which she uses to manipulate those around her. Driven by a childhood trauma of witnessing the persecution of her kind, she is secretly committed to avenging the demon race. Her ultimate goal is to undermine the human empire from within.
Miaoyun's carefully constructed plans are eventually exposed by Meng Xizhou, who is, in fact, a reincarnated demon king. With her schemes unraveled, Miaoyun takes her own life.
Feng Lijun as Situ Hanshan
Situ Hanshan is a cunning and ruthless merman, driven by a fanatical devotion to his beloved mistress, Empress Miaoyun. In a shocking display of loyalty, he even castrates himself to further her ambitions. Through Miaoyun's influence, Situ Hanshan rises to become the powerful and feared Right Chancellor, wielding immense control over the imperial court. When his initial plan to replace key government officials with his own agents fails, he resorts to desperate measures. Utilizing a parasitic "Puppet Worm Mother," he assumes the identity of Du Fenglei, the leader of the Celestial Master's Order, in a bid to regain power and influence. His reign of terror ultimately comes to an end at the hands of Du Yuelian, who tearfully slays him, unaware of the true identity hidden beneath the disguise.
Ye Kai as Guo Ji
Guo Ji is a mid-ranking demon hunter and a senior disciple within the Celestial Master's Order, serving alongside Du Yuelian. He harbors a deep, unrequited love for Yuelian, constantly seeking her affection but never quite winning her heart. His devotion remains steadfast despite her emotional unavailability, adding a layer of quiet longing to his character.
