As they spoke, Guo Ji arrived with an imperial decree, announcing his appointment as the new head of the Ministry of Justice. He taunted Nan Fengyi, questioning whether he should be addressed as Nan Fengyi or Bai Ze Yi, and attributed his promotion to his own meritorious act of reporting Nan Fengyi's true identity.Meng Xizhou condemned him as a treacherous opportunist, but Guo Ji insisted he had done the right thing. As Meng Xizhou and Nan Fengyi turned to leave, followed by Huo Ting and Huo Xiao, Guo Ji warned them never to return. In a fit of anger, Guo Ji knocked his hat to the floor and, unable to reach it from under the table, ordered Huo Ting to retrieve it, only to kick it away once it was in his hand.
On their way home, Meng Xizhou pondered the Emperor's decision to promote Guo Ji.Unbeknownst to her, the Empress, a demon herself, had conspired with the deceased Situ Hanshan, harboring ambitions of becoming the Demon King.Driven by her hatred of humanity, fueled by her lost love, she vowed to turn all lovers into bitter rivals. After Du Yuelian dismissed Guo Ji, the Empress seized the opportunity to manipulate him, and dispatched another demon, Xuanxu Jiaoniang, to Changle City.
While attempting to buy rice, Nan Fengyi and Meng Xizhou were recognized by a vendor who refused to sell to the "descendant of a traitor," inciting a mob to pelt them with rotten vegetables.Back home, Nan Fengyi lamented the incident, suggesting Meng Xizhou avoid accompanying him in public. She embraced him, vowing to stay by his side.At that moment, Nan Sixu returned, expressing disbelief that Nan Fengyi had revealed their long-held secret.
To Nan Fengyi's surprise, Nan Sixu burst into laughter, relieved to finally be free of the burden of secrecy and able to reveal his true identity to Wang Niangzi. He inquired about their evening plans, and Meng Xizhou, understanding his intention, quickly claimed they were busy, pulling Nan Fengyi away to wander the streets in masks. They encountered Xuanxu Jiaoniang selling Meng Xizhou's brand of lipstick. After purchasing one, they were invited to watch a magic show.
Following the performance, a strange purple mist filled the air, triggering Meng Xizhou's eye pain and a sense of foreboding.Elsewhere, Fifth Uncle struggled to sell his house, as the new head of the Ministry of Justice refused to do business with him.He reaffirmed his support for Meng Xizhou and Nan Fengyi's relationship.Suddenly, a monster attacked, but Du Yuelian arrived just in time to save them.Dan Qian noted a look of fear in the monster's eyes.Later, Huo Ting informed Nan Fengyi that Nan Sixu had been falsely accused of murdering Wang Niangzi's lover. When they visited him, Nan Sixu appeared to have lost his memory.
