Spoiler Alert

The episode opens with Guo Ji informing Miaoyun that Meng Xizhou has escaped, taking Nan Fengyi hostage. Miaoyun questions the validity of this, suspecting Nan Fengyi might be complicit. However, Miaoyun reassures Guo Ji that she can hear everything Nan Fengyi hears, implying a supernatural connection.

On the city walls, Nan Fengyi and Meng Xizhou face off against Bei Gongshuo and General Sun, who are fiercely defending the city. Nan Fengyi taunts Meng Xizhou, revealing that she doesn't even know how to extract a demon's core. He further provokes her by stating he should have killed her along with her fifth uncle. Fueled by rage over her uncle's death, Meng Xizhou extracts the demon core from Nan Fengyi.

Nan Fengyi falls from the wall but is saved by Du Yuelian. Now possessing the demon core and becoming the Demon King, Meng Xizhou intends to kill Nan Fengyi. Du Yuelian pleads for his life, arguing that Meng Xizhou already has the core. Meng Xizhou retorts that the core was always hers. Du Yuelian counters that the core had already chosen Nan Fengyi, and he willingly gave it to her. This gives Meng Xizhou pause, and she leaves. Du Yuelian takes Nan Fengyi to the Celestial Master's Mansion, worrying that Meng Xizhou's umbrella must not fall into the wrong hands.

Miaoyun confronts Meng Xizhou, stating that if she were Demon King, she would avenge all the suffering of the demon race. Meng Xizhou, however, desires peace between humans and demons. Miaoyun attempts to take the demon core from Meng Xizhou, but Meng Xizhou explains it's impossible without her consent. Du Yuelian, fearing the Shan Hai Tu (a powerful artifact) will be misused, tries to destroy it. Guo Ji stops her, revealing that her power is insufficient. Miaoyun then arrives, defeats Du Yuelian, and seizes the Shan Hai Tu.

Miaoyun orders Guo Ji to imprison Du Yuelian. Guo Ji begs her not to harm Du Yuelian. Miaoyun then summons the sea demons, demanding they give her their demon cores to fulfill her ambition of "saving" them. Meanwhile, Nan Fengyi has a vision of Bai Ze Clan, his father, who is overjoyed to see him. However, Nan Fengyi is filled with hatred, blaming Bai Ze Clan for the death of his senior apprentice brother. Nan Fengyi declares he has returned the demon core to Meng Xizhou, atoning for Bai Ze Clan's sins. Bai Ze Clan warns him he will die without the core, but Nan Fengyi feels his life is meaningless. Bai Ze Clan insists that living is his purpose, and Nan Fengyi recovers.

Miaoyun appears and gives Nan Fengyi all the demon cores she absorbed, asking him to lead the Ministry of Justice and assist her. Guo Ji overhears this, claiming Miaoyun forced him into this situation. Miaoyun visits Du Yuelian in the dungeon, intending to absorb her essence to restore her own youth. Guo Ji intervenes, sacrificing himself to protect Du Yuelian. Before dying, he tells her that there will be no one to make kites for her anymore.

Bei Gongshuo informs Meng Xizhou that Guo Ji sent a message revealing Miaoyun's plan to absorb the Emperor's dragon energy. They rush back to the palace. Meanwhile, Miaoyun dresses the Emperor in clothes she created. The Emperor feels much better and thanks Miaoyun for her companionship. Miaoyun asks if he wants to know her wish, and he encourages her to speak. She reveals her true form and her intention to kill him, absorbing his dragon energy. Bei Gongshuo arrives but is blocked by guards. Meng Xizhou arrives and defeats the guards. Bei Gongshuo finds the dying Emperor, who apologizes for wronging his mother and entrusts everything to Bei Gongshuo.
