Episode Summary
Renguang takes control of Meng Xizhou and attacks. Nan Fengyi traps them both in the Shan Hai Tu. Meng Xizhou sacrifices herself to destroy Renguang. Nan Fengyi uses his remaining power to save others before dying. Ten years later, the characters remember them, and an illusion shows them reunited.

The episode opens with Meng Xizhou declaring that she has freed everyone from the illusion, but the people cry out for her to return them. They preferred the blissful, albeit false, reality of the dream world, even to the point of death. Renguang, seizing the opportunity, takes complete control of Meng Xizhou's body. He taunts her, pointing out that even when aware of the illusion, people refuse to wake up and show no gratitude. Instead, their attachments only deepen. Meng Xizhou is horrified, realizing she's been completely overpowered. Renguang declares that compassion is useless against the human race.
Renguang explains that human attachments inevitably lead to obsessions, which in turn fuel his power. He unleashes his black nightmare, intending to kill all the humans trapped there. Meng Xizhou desperately cries out "No!", but it's too late; Renguang has full control. Du Yuelian, along with the dog demon and other demons, arrives to confront Renguang. Du Yuelian urges him to surrender, but Renguang mocks them, calling them the "trash of the Celestial Master's Mansion" and "traitors of the demon clan." A fight ensues, and Renguang easily defeats them all.
Just as Renguang gloats over their weakness, Nan Fengyi appears. Renguang scoffs at Nan Fengyi's limited power, but Nan Fengyi reveals that he is the only one who can open the Shan Hai Tu (a mystical scroll). He opens the scroll, intending to trap Renguang inside. Renguang desperately tries to manipulate Nan Fengyi, reminding him that the body he inhabits is that of his beloved Meng Xizhou. Meng Xizhou briefly regains control, urging Nan Fengyi to seal her away in the Shan Hai Tu. Nan Fengyi complies, then follows her into the scroll.
Inside the Shan Hai Tu, Meng Xizhou temporarily suppresses Renguang. She begs Nan Fengyi to activate the Beidou Yuan Formation to kill her, which will also destroy Renguang. She explains that she has him under control with her will, but he will soon awaken. She urges him to act quickly, saying that only through her death can true peace between humans and demons be achieved. Nan Fengyi hesitates, tears streaming down his face. Renguang tries to manipulate him again. Meng Xizhou takes his hand, places it on her forehead, and tell him to focus his power to kill her.
Nan Fengyi, unable to bring himself to do it, Meng Xizhou guides Nan Fengyi's hand to her forehead, resulting in Renguang's death. Mortally wounded, Meng Xizhou lies in Nan Fengyi's arms. She calls him "Master," saying she has finally returned to their original state. She asks if he remembers their first meeting, and he affirms that he does. She tells him to say goodbye and forget her. With that, she dissipates into starlight. Nan Fengyi clutches a remnant of her spirit as he falls out of the Shan Hai Tu. Du Yuelian catches him, and Bei Gongshuo asks about Meng Xizhou, but Nan Fengyi faints before he can answer.
When Nan Fengyi awakens, he reveals to Du Yuelian that he didn't kill the Haiman people; they were absorbed into the Feibai pen. Using his last bit of strength, he frees them and transforms Meng Xizhou into a bird. Nan Fengyi then passes away.
Ten years later, Nan Sixu and Dan Qian visit Nan Fengyi's grave. Nan Sixu weeps for a long time. Bei Gongshuo sees a large bird in the sky and hopes it is Meng Xizhou. Du Yuelian says she can use an illusion to let him see Meng Xizhou. They enter the illusion, see Meng Xizhou and Nan Fengyi together, and encourage their union. (The End)
