After surviving a life-or-death hostage situation, Zhang Chi and Qi Ji, exhausted but safe, finally confess their feelings for each other. Having long harbored feelings for Zhang Chi, Qi Ji embraces the moment, and they share a passionate kiss.
At the Jiangdong Emergency Center's commendation ceremony, the heroic actions of Zhang Chi and Qi Ji during the hostage crisis are recognized. Director Sun of the Health and Health Commission presents them with medals, and their entire team receives special honors. Zhang Beihai and Qi Xuejun, Qi Ji's parents, are moved to tears by the recognition of their children's bravery.
Following the ceremony, Doctor Ding approaches Zhang Chi and Qi Ji to apologize. She admits to fleeing the scene during the hostage situation out of fear, feeling unworthy of her profession. Zhang Chi and Qi Ji sympathize, but are unsure how best to comfort her. Overcome with exhaustion, Qi Ji dozes off at a table. Zhang Chi is seen tenderly fanning her with a small electric fan. Knowing Xu Chengyuan's feelings for Qi Ji, Zhang Chi invites him to dinner and reveals his relationship with Qi Ji. Xu Chengyuan offers his sincere congratulations, warning Zhang Chi to treat Qi Ji well, or face his wrath. The two men share drinks, solidifying their understanding. Qu Yufan inquires about Qi Xuejun's repeated apologies. Zeng Li finally reveals a dark secret from twenty years ago: Qi Xuejun accidentally killed a woman in a car accident, and his alcoholism began after that incident. Qi Xuejun is later hospitalized, and after receiving treatment, he gradually recovers.
