Episode Summary
Qi Ji deals with a mixer event and her feelings for Zhang Chi. Zhang Chi helps Qi Xuejun's victims forgive him. Zheng Bo and Sun Jiaqi finally become a couple, and he secures funding. The episode opens with Chen Xue noticing Qi Ji's downcast mood. In an attempt to cheer her up, Chen Xue drags Qi Ji to a mixer event organized by the emergency center and the traffic police department. Qi Ji, clearly uncomfortable, sits alone and doesn't engage. When a traffic officer approaches her, she firmly states she already has a boyfriend, sending him away.
Meanwhile, Zhang Chi volunteers to cover Chen Xue's shift so she can attend the mixer. Chen Xue, looking for a potential partner, asks the traffic police captain for introductions. Lu Ziang approaches Chen Xue, and she remembers their brief encounter when she was sick and he was on duty. She had given him a mask and disinfectant, a gesture he deeply appreciated. Lu Ziang expresses his interest in dating her, gets her WeChat, and Chen Xue is thrilled.
In a separate storyline, Zhang Chi visits the families of the three patients injured by Qi Xuejun's drunk driving incident. He speaks highly of Qi Xuejun, ultimately persuading them to forgive him. Zheng Bo treats Sun Jiaqi to dinner, but he's so engrossed in perfecting his system that he forgets to order. After a long, hungry wait, the food finally arrives. On their way home, Zheng Bo impulsively kisses Sun Jiaqi. She's overjoyed, having waited for this moment for a long time. Zheng Bo, who had previously hesitated due to feeling inadequate, finally confesses his feelings, delighting Sun Jiaqi.
Zheng Bo's hard work pays off as he secures a five million yuan investment, causing Sun Jiaqi to celebrate enthusiastically. Gao Xing's house is finally renovated, and he's ready to get married. He moves out of Xu Chengyuan's place, inviting both Zheng Bo and Xu Chengyuan to his wedding. Yan Yunyun reaches out to Xu Chengyuan, bonding over their shared experience of being injured by the same steel bar. They find comfort in each other's company, talking late into the night.
Qi Xuejun's drunk driving case goes to court. He pleads guilty and has compensated the victims, leading to a lenient sentence. After the trial, the victims' families reveal that Zhang Chi had visited them multiple times and even arranged for specialists to treat the injured, leading to their forgiveness of Qi Xuejun. Qi Ji feels grateful to Zhang Chi but hesitates to message him, eventually deleting her drafts.
Zhang Chi wants to talk to Qi Ji, but Chen Xue rushes in and pulls Qi Ji away to meet the new recruits at the emergency center. Director Lu introduces the new emergency doctors, Chen Da and Li Huohuo. This reminds Zhang Chi of his early days at the center when Qi Ji was the only one willing to mentor him. Director Lu assigns Zhang Chi to mentor Li Huohuo, while Qi Ji takes Chen Da under her wing.
Zhang Chi's team receives a call about a girl attempting suicide, and they successfully rescue her. Qi Ji's team saves a mother and daughter who depend on each other. The mother is unconscious, and the young girl offers her most cherished toy and snacks to Che Ming. Che Ming, moved by the situation, pays for the mother's medical expenses, a common practice for him that Qi Ji is used to.
Zhang Chi returns to the emergency center after completing his mission, and Qi Ji's team arrives shortly after. They pass each other without a word, like strangers. Yan Yunyun and Xu Chengyuan go to the beach to watch the sunrise. Yan Yunyun thanks Xu Chengyuan for his concern during their life-threatening incident, and they share a tender moment as she leans on his shoulder. Suddenly, Xu Chengyuan experiences severe chest pain, and Yan Yunyun rushes him to the hospital.
Qi Ji arrives at work early, bringing breakfast for her colleagues. She hears a weather report predicting heavy rain. Chen Xue mentions that Xu Chengyuan went on a blind date, and Qi Ji, worried about him being scammed, calls him. Yan Yunyun answers the phone, reassuring Qi Ji. Meanwhile, Tao Tao goes to the countryside for inspiration, documenting the villagers' daily lives with the village chief's guidance.
