Episode 3 of "The Top Speed" kicks off with Sun Jiaqi, a dispatcher at the emergency call center, enjoying a night out with her colleagues at a bar. Her vibrant energy attracts unwanted attention. A man starts harassing her, following her to the restroom and cornering her. Sun Jiaqi fights back, even smashing a trash can over the man's head, but he overpowers her. Just in time, Zheng Bo arrives, shielding Sun Jiaqi and taking the brunt of the man's attack. Zheng Bo, injured, calls for an ambulance.

Qi Ji, receiving the call, rushes to the scene with his team and provides initial care to Sun Jiaqi. The police arrive, and Qi Ji and Zhang Chi are directed to treat another injured person outside. Zhang Chi notices the man's clubbed fingers, a sign of potential pulmonary hypertension, and fears he might suffocate. He calls the dispatch center to send another ambulance to take the man to North of the city Hospital.

Meanwhile, Xu Chengyuan hears about Zheng Bo's heroic rescue and encourages him to pursue Sun Jiaqi. Zheng Bo takes the hint, gifting Sun Jiaqi a gym membership and "coincidentally" showing up at the gym. He immediately advises her not to wear makeup while working out, but Sun Jiaqi, annoyed, ignores him.

The episode takes a somber turn when Zhang Chi visits Dandan in the hospital. He sees Qi Ji there, too, and hides. Dandan's health is deteriorating rapidly, and without a heart transplant, she won't survive. Dandan's mother asks Zhang Chi to buy a new outfit for Dandan, wanting her to look beautiful when she passes away.

Zhang Chi goes to a children's clothing store, where he coincidentally runs into Qi Ji, who is also buying clothes for Dandan. A call from the doctor interrupts them: Yangyang, another patient, has just passed away. If his heart can be donated to Dandan within six hours, she has a chance to live. Qi Ji and Zhang Chi rush to the hospital and plead with Yangyang's parents, but they refuse.

Yangyang's classmates visit, bringing gifts and textbooks, hoping to see him again. Yangyang's mother is heartbroken. Zhang Chi stays by her side, offering silent support. Finally, she agrees to donate Yangyang's heart. Zhang Chi watches Dandan's successful transplant surgery before leaving, relieved.

Back at the office, Secretary Liu summons Zhang Chi. Zhang Chi apologizes for the trouble he caused when he first arrived at the emergency center and explains that Qi Ji convinced Yangyang's mother to donate the heart. He expresses his gratitude towards Qi Ji. With Qi Ji leaving for WHO training, Secretary Liu assigns Xu Chengyuan as Zhang Chi's mentor.

Zhang Chi's first day with Xu Chengyuan's team is fraught with disagreements. They respond to a patient with cardiac arrest, but the patient is beyond saving. Xu Chengyuan, trying to spare the family's feelings, doesn't reveal the truth immediately, focusing on resuscitation efforts. Zhang Chi disapproves of Xu Chengyuan's seemingly insincere approach. Xu Chengyuan explains that, while the patient was beyond help, he still had a duty to do everything he could.

On their next case, the patient's children argue about which hospital to go to. Xu Chengyuan offers advice but avoids making the decision for them, which Zhang Chi sees as shirking responsibility. Xu Chengyuan explains he doesn't want to be blamed later. Still frustrated, Zhang Chi is given the lead on the next patient.

Zhang Chi treats a young man injured on the roadside but cuts his pants open without explicit consent. The young man demands compensation. Later, Xu Chengyuan diligently treats a self-harm patient, but the patient is ungrateful and verbally abuses Zhang Chi. Xu Chengyuan advises Zhang Chi to think before acting, but Zhang Chi is still upset, feeling his efforts to help are unappreciated.

The personal lives of the characters are also explored. Qi Ji's father casually asks about her breakup, leaving Qi Ji with unspoken pain. Xu Chengyuan vents to Qi Ji about Zhang Chi, but Sun Jiaqi overhears and defends Zhang Chi. Xu Chengyuan promises Qi Ji he'll mentor Zhang Chi properly.

Zheng Bo arrives and offers to train Sun Jiaqi at the gym. She reluctantly agrees. Zheng Bo trains with her until she's exhausted. It's revealed that Director Lu and Zheng Bo's father have an agreement: if Zheng Bo works at the emergency center for a year, Director Lu will introduce him to a girlfriend.

Director Lu takes Zheng Bo on a blind date. Zheng Bo is reluctant, but Director Lu pressures him by mentioning his father. They arrive at the meeting place, and Sun Jiaqi is also there. Zheng Bo mistakenly assumes Sun Jiaqi is his blind date, leading to an awkward situation.
