This episode delves into the importance of bedside manner and communication in the medical field. Zhang Chi reflects on two contrasting experiences. During his internship, his supervising doctor bluntly told a terminally ill patient there was no hope, devastating the patient and their family. Later, at North of the city Hospital, he witnessed the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery patiently explaining a patient's condition, highlighting the power of effective communication. Qi Ji gives Zhang Chi a thumbs-up drawing for his insights, and he responds with a shy smiley face. The scene concludes with a summary from Secretary Liu, emphasizing how crucial patience is for medical staff to minimize conflicts with patients and their families.
Meanwhile, Yang Yang's mother undergoes a successful kidney transplant. Dan Dan's mother, who is caring for her, calls Qi Ji and Zhang Chi, who rush to the hospital. They learn that Yang Yang's mother had chronic kidney disease, exacerbated by the loss of Yang Yang and her divorce. Because Yang Yang donated his heart to Dan Dan, his mother received priority for a kidney transplant. Zhang Chi and Qi Ji are overjoyed for her.
Zhang Chi and Qi Ji learn more about Yang Yang's mother's condition from Dan Dan's mother. They discover that she still cherishes the teddy bear Zhang Chi gave her, which contains a recording of Yang Yang's heartbeat. As Qi Ji and Zhang Chi grow closer, Qi Ji learns about Zhang Chi's application for an overseas fellowship. She's saddened by the prospect of him leaving, but Sun Jiaqi encourages her to try and convince him to stay, though Qi Ji doesn't want to hinder Zhang Chi's career.
A TV host, Cheng Xiaoyan, arrives at the emergency center to film a documentary. Director Lu introduces her to the staff. Doctor Cui eagerly volunteers to be the star, but Cheng Xiaoyan considers him too old, disappointing him. Doctor Cui had promised his daughter, Dong Dong, that he'd be on TV as a birthday gift, but he has to explain the situation to her over the phone, which Zhang Chi and Qi Ji witness.
Cheng Xiaoyan chooses Zhang Chi and Qi Ji as the main subjects of her documentary. Xu Chengyuan, a fan of Cheng Xiaoyan, tries to get involved, but she refuses. Xu Chengyuan had previously treated Cheng Xiaoyan's father, who unfortunately passed away. Although Cheng Xiaoyan was initially angry, she now understands and thanks Xu Chengyuan for giving her time to process the pain.
Cheng Xiaoyan films Qi Ji and Zhang Chi's daily routines, including a ride-along in the ambulance. They pass Doctor Cui, and Zhang Chi suggests that Cheng Xiaoyan interview him. Doctor Cui shares his experiences and sacrifices working in the emergency department. Cheng Xiaoyan is pleased, and Doctor Cui thanks Zhang Chi, while Qi Ji is impressed by Zhang Chi's generosity in giving up the opportunity.
Cheng Xiaoyan asks Zheng Bo to show her around the emergency center. He provides a detailed overview of the medical staff's lives. Cheng Xiaoyan then invites Sun Jiaqi to participate in the filming, giving her a chance to urge the public not to misuse the 120 emergency hotline. Zheng Bo adds supporting information, and Sun Jiaqi thanks him for his assistance.
For a scene on emergency first aid, Cheng Xiaoyan pairs Qi Ji with Zhang Chi, and Sun Jiaqi with Zheng Bo. Zhang Chi is hesitant to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on Qi Ji, so Xu Chengyuan volunteers to switch with him. However, Cheng Xiaoyan insists that he switch with Zheng Bo instead. The simulation begins with a dummy, relieving Zhang Chi, who then diligently performs CPR.
After dinner, Zhang Chi studies at the library. Secretary Liu asks about his experiences in the emergency center. Zhang Chi is adapting to the pre-hospital rescue procedures but still wants to pursue the overseas fellowship. Secretary Liu tries to persuade him, even quoting Zhang Chi's father to convince him to stay.

However, Zhang Chi is on duty and unable to leave.
