Director Dai arranges for Zhang Chi to meet a foreign cardiac specialist visiting from Jiangdong, but Zhang Chi misses the appointment due to an emergency call. Qi Ji feels bad for him, but Zhang Chi prioritizes saving lives.
Qi Ji and Zhang Chi are dispatched to the home of an elderly patient, Grandpa Cheng. The location, a maze of narrow alleys in an old urban village, prevents the ambulance from reaching the house. They grab their equipment and run, aided by Hua Zi, a delivery driver familiar with the area. They find Grandpa Cheng, who suffers from Alzheimer's, unconscious after an argument.
After reviving him, Grandpa Cheng mistakes Zhang Chi for his son, wanting to buy him a birthday cake. Zhang Chi plays along, comforting the old man. Hua Zi arrives and informs them that Grandpa Cheng's son, also a doctor, died heroically during the Wenchuan earthquake. The neighbors have been looking after him ever since. After settling Grandpa Cheng, Zhang Chi tries to salvage the meeting with the specialist, but Director Dai informs him that the specialist, offended by the no-show, has already left. Disappointed, Zhang Chi is taken to the beach by Qi Ji to vent his frustrations.
Zhang Chi opens up to Qi Ji about his past suspension. He performed a successful surgery on a child, but complications led to the patient's death, and the family blamed him, resulting in a six-month suspension. Qi Ji offers support, and Zhang Chi admits he's growing fond of the emergency center's team and their dedication. Qi Ji suggests he stay permanently, but Zhang Chi, still yearning for cardiac surgery, doesn't give a direct answer.
Qi Ji takes Zhang Chi to a soccer field, where he joins a game. Qi Ji cheers him on, but Zhang Chi is soon injured by another player's cleats. Another player suffers a groin injury, and Qi Ji attempts to help, but the player refuses her assistance, leading to her falling and injuring her elbow. Zhang Chi, returning with drinks, examines the player, diagnosing a contusion and applying ice. He then tends to Qi Ji's injured elbow, and they decide to get something to eat.
Meanwhile, Sun Jiaqi treats Zheng Bo to dinner. She notices Cheng Xiaoyan's feelings for Zheng Bo and encourages him to pursue a relationship. Zheng Bo feels inadequate for Cheng Xiaoyan, preferring a simple life. Sun Jiaqi shares his views, and they bond over dinner and a movie. The theater is cold, and Zheng Bo offers Sun Jiaqi his jacket, warming her heart.
Qi Ji is shown online shopping for tea sets for her father, Qi Xuejun, hoping to mend their strained relationship. She also buys athletic shoes for her team members, realizing how uncomfortable their dress shoes are during calls.
The team responds to another call, finding a patient unconscious. Zhang Chi diagnoses a myocardial infarction. The patient's wife demands a thrombolytic injection, but Zhang Chi notices head swelling and refuses, opting to transport the patient to the nearby North of the city Hospital for catheterization. Dong Xiaoqiu and Huang Hao are impressed with Zhang Chi, and Qi Ji praises him as well.
Later, at a convenience store, Zhang Chi treats the team to snacks. Dong Xiaoqiu asks about Zhang Chi's love life, and he briefly mentions a past relationship that ended during his doctoral studies. Qu Yufan calls Qi Ji, telling her he's at her home playing chess with her father and urging her to come home for dinner. Qi Ji is annoyed and hangs up. Dong Xiaoqiu encourages Qi Ji to consider a relationship with Qu Yufan, but Qi Ji dismisses the idea, while Zhang Chi feels a pang of jealousy. Qu Yufan shares a good bottle of wine with Qi Xuejun.
As night falls, the team responds to another emergency: a person unconscious in a car. During the rescue, the patient suddenly grabs Qi Ji's arm, injuring her. Ignoring her injury, Qi Ji continues the rescue. The patient goes into respiratory arrest, and Zhang Chi, Qi Ji, Dong Xiaoqiu, and Huang Hao perform CPR, intubation, and defibrillation. They successfully revive the patient and transport them to the hospital. Only after the patient is stable does Zhang Chi clean and bandage Qi Ji's wound.
