Gao Xing moves in with Xu Chengyuan and Zheng Bo. Zhang Chi saves a woman's life after a car accident, becoming a local hero. He and Qi Ji grow closer. The episode kicks off with Zheng Bo, Gao Xing, and Xu Chengyuan grabbing dinner after work. Post-meal, Gao Xing visits Xu Chengyuan's two-story apartment, where Zheng Bo is already a tenant. Gao Xing, whose own place is under renovation, expresses his desire to move in with them. Xu Chengyuan tries to dissuade him with various excuses, but Gao Xing sweetens the deal by offering to pay extra rent and take on all the housework. Xu Chengyuan relents, and Gao Xing immediately brags about it on social media. It's also revealed that Xu Chengyuan has a crush on Qi Ji, and suspects Zhang Chi might feel the same way. Zheng Bo, however, dismisses this idea.
The next morning, Zhang Chi is out for a run when he witnesses a horrific accident: a drunk driver crashes into a mother and daughter on an electric scooter. The young girl escapes with minor injuries, but the mother is unconscious. The scene triggers a traumatic flashback for Zhang Chi, reminding him of his own mother's death in a traffic accident, where he was helpless to save her. He springs into action, performing CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the injured woman. After a tense struggle, he manages to revive her just as the ambulance arrives. He comforts the frightened girl with a piece of candy, watching with relief as the paramedics take them away.
Xu Chengyuan calls Zhang Chi to invite him to a movie. Zhang Chi rushes over, only to find Zheng Bo there as well. The three of them end up watching a romance film, which moves Xu Chengyuan and Zheng Bo to tears. Zhang Chi, however, is uninterested and sneaks out halfway through. Later, they have dinner at a restaurant, where a news report about Zhang Chi's heroic rescue is broadcast. The restaurant owner and patrons applaud him.
Meanwhile, Qi Ji's team finishes a rescue mission late at night, starving. The only food available at a nearby eatery is four set meals. Zhang Chi generously gives up his portion so Qi Ji and her team can eat, opting for instant noodles from a convenience store instead. Dong Xiaoqiu mentions Zhang Chi's televised heroism to Qi Ji, who then buys an extra braised egg for Dong Xiaoqiu to give to Zhang Chi, making sure to specify it's from her. Zhang Chi is touched by the gesture.
After work, Zhang Chi heads to the library as usual. Secretary Liu, having seen the news report, visits him to persuade him to stay at the rescue center. Zhang Chi is unsure how to respond. Later, Zheng Bo's ex-girlfriend shows up, trying to use him to get a hospital bed for someone. Zheng Bo is conflicted, and his ex berates him. Sun Jiaqi, passing by, steps in to defend Zheng Bo. Grateful, Zheng Bo treats her to a meal.
Sun Jiaqi dresses up in a traditional Hanfu outfit and asks Zheng Bo to take photos of her. He struggles initially, making her look short and unflattering. Sun Jiaqi patiently teaches him some photography techniques, and he quickly improves. She's delighted with the results and posts them online. She offers to take photos of Zheng Bo, but he wants to wait until Grandpa Cheng's birthday.
The episode then focuses on Grandpa Cheng's birthday celebration. The rescue center staff, neighbors, and a delivery driver named Hua Zi all gather to celebrate. Grandpa Cheng is moved to tears, aware that his son died in the Wenchuan earthquake. Hua Zi tearfully shares his own childhood experience of being poisoned by pesticides and saved by the rescue center's doctors, explaining his deep respect for the profession and his willingness to help the medical staff.
That night, Xu Chengyuan, Zheng Bo, and Gao Xing are too excited to sleep. Xu Chengyuan reminisces about making a birthday card for his father, who was dismissive and focused on his studies. Gao Xing expresses his longing for his own father. Zheng Bo sends a message to his father and sings a song praising fatherhood. Zhang Chi, also unable to sleep, rereads a letter from his father, Zhang Beihai, along with his father's medical notes from 40 years of practice.
Qi Ji's team receives a call to transfer a patient who has just undergone stomach cancer surgery to the North City Hospital. Dong Xiaoqiu is confused about the transfer, but it turns out the patient simply wants to be in the same room as his wife. The wife is afraid of needles, and he sings to her to encourage her. Qi Ji, Zhang Chi, and Dong Xiaoqiu are deeply moved by the scene.
The episode concludes with Qi Ji's team responding to another car accident. The injured person's severed hand is missing. The situation is critical, and Qi Ji decides to transport the patient to the hospital first. The attending physician asks Qi Ji's team to find the severed hand, explaining that it can be reattached and function restored if found within six hours. Qi Ji and Zhang Chi immediately return to the accident scene to search.
