Wang Hedi as Xu Qi'an
Xu Qi'an isn't your typical hero. He starts as Yang Ling, a modern-day sales manager with a background in police academy. After a bizarre incident during a team-building event involving a script reading, he's thrust into the fantastical world of the Dafeng Dynasty. Now going by Xu Qi'an, he finds himself working as a "copper gong" – essentially a low-ranking night watchman or constable – in Chang Le county.
But Xu Qi'an is anything but ordinary. Armed with his modern knowledge, sharp wit, and impressive deductive skills, he quickly becomes a master investigator, solving one baffling case after another. He's got a knack for science, mathematics, and reasoning, making him a standout in this world of warlocks, demons, and ancient mysteries.
However, Xu Qi'an's destiny is far grander than his humble beginnings suggest. His true parentage is a significant reveal: he's the son of Xu Pingfeng, the current Grand Tutor's chief disciple, and Ji Baiqing, a descendant of the former Dafeng royal family. This lineage grants him incredible luck, having been imbued with half of the Dafeng Dynasty's national fortune at birth.
Personality-wise, Xu Qi'an is a charmer. He's quick-witted, humorous, and knows how to work a room. But beneath the surface, he possesses a strong moral compass and a deep sense of justice. He's not afraid to stand up for what's right, even when it puts him at odds with powerful figures.
