Episode Summary
Xue Wen Yin confesses to killing Niu Dali after he attacked her and after a confrontation reveals the child isn't Zhou Xian's. Luo Shu sets a trap for Xue Wen Yin, proving her guilt. Xiao Yue is divorced, and Luo Shu decides to travel, accompanied by Qi Menglin.

The mystery surrounding Niu Dali's death deepens in this episode of "Under the Moonlight." Luo Shu, determined to uncover the truth, wants the leader of the fragrance hall to identify Niu Dali's body. However, Xiao Yue, ever the schemer, has Niu Dali's body secretly moved. Ziyan witnesses this and informs Luo Shu and Liu Wan. Luo Shu, with the help of Qi Menglin, who was guarding the door, reclaim the body. The fragrance hall leader confirms Niu Dali was one of his disciples.
Luo Shu reviews the clues. Years ago, Xiao Yue went to fragrance hall seeking help to conceive. Niu Dali impregnated her. After fragrance hall was eliminated, Niu Dali, with nowhere to go, sought out Xiao Yue. It appears Xiao Yue was being blackmailed by Niu Dali, and she followed his every command. Xiao Yue, wanting Zhou Xian to divorce Xue Wen Yin, had Niu Dali hide her underwear under Xue Wen Yin's bed. Liu Wan is convinced Xiao Yue killed Niu Dali to silence him. Luo Shu, however, has doubts. Xiao Yue's original intention was to frame Xue Wen Yin; killing Niu Dali seemed unnecessary. Despite this, Liu Wan remains fixated on Xiao Yue as the murderer and wants to involve Han Muzhi to arrest her.
Luo Shu understands Han Muzhi's reluctance to act. He wants to avoid harming the women who were victims of fragrance hall. Luo Shu is looking for a solution that serves everyone, but Xue Wen Yin is impatient and wants Xiao Yue brought to justice immediately. Luo Shu is trying to find a safe solution. Xue Wen Yin, in despair, contemplates suicide. Luo Shu accidentally discovers Xue Wen Yin covered in bruises, realizing that Zhou Xian has been abusing her. Enraged, Xue Wen Yin goes to the county office to report him.
Constable Cai arrives at the Zhou residence to arrest Xiao Yue. Zhou Xian desperately tries to stop him, reminding Xue Wen Yin to consider the bigger picture. Xue Wen Yin hesitates, and Zhou Xian pleads with her to show mercy to Xiao Yue, even bringing up their son. This infuriates Xue Wen Yin, who finally reveals that the child is not Zhou Xian's. Zhou Xian, humiliated and enraged, tries to attack Xue Wen Yin, but Luo Shu intervenes, suggesting they conduct the questioning within the house.
Luo Shu confronts Xiao Yue about her relationship with Niu Dali. Xiao Yue claims they are cousins, but Luo Shu exposes her lie, revealing her visit to fragrance hall to conceive. Liu Wan suspects Zhou Xian's son is actually Niu Dali's, which Zhou Xian vehemently denies. Luo Shu instructs Constable Cai to find Niu Dali's family for a confrontation with Xiao Yue. Zhou Xian, desperate to avoid a public scandal, tries to delay Cai and dismisses Luo Shu and her companions.
Alone with Xiao Yue, Zhou Xian pressures her to reveal the truth. Xiao Yue mocks his impotence, driving him into a furious rage. He strangles Xiao Yue. Luo Shu, Liu Wan, Xue Wen Yin, and Constable Cai rush in and pull Zhou Xian away. Xiao Yue publicly berates Zhou Xian, revealing their childhood romance and how he married Xue Wen Yin for advancement. Xiao Yue explains she went to fragrance hall only to bear Zhou Xian a child, which led to all these complications. She denies killing Niu Dali and claims Zhou Xian ordered her to move the body.
Luo Shu suspects Zhou Xian of killing Niu Dali but lacks concrete evidence, forcing her to temporarily set the matter aside. Liu Wan urges Luo Shu to arrest Zhou Xian quickly. Luo Shu asks her to find the murder weapon as soon as possible. Xue Wen Yin, overhearing their conversation, offers to help with the investigation. Luo Shu advises her to rest.
Luo Shu and Liu Wan brainstorm, suspecting the murder weapon was an incense burner. They decide to search Xiao Yue's room. In the darkness, Xue Wen Yin secretly places the incense burner in Xiao Yue's room, only to be caught by Luo Shu and Liu Wan. It turns out this was all Luo Shu's plan. Suspecting Xue Wen Yin, she intentionally let her overhear their conversation, setting a trap.
Xue Wen Yin confesses to killing Niu Dali. She had overheard Xiao Yue bribing Niu Dali to frame her. Xue Wen Yin then negotiated with Niu Dali, offering double the money if he would tell Zhou Xian the child wasn't his. Niu Dali made advances toward her, and during the ensuing struggle, he fell and lost consciousness. Xue Wen Yin then strangled him with a rope, making it look like a suicide.
The next morning, Xue Wen Yin, accompanied by Constable Cai, goes to the county office to confess. Liu Wan is heartbroken, but Luo Shu offers her encouragement, urging her to pursue her own feelings. Liu Wan, deeply impressed by Luo Shu's handling of the case, asks her to stay at the county office. However, Luo Shu decides to leave and travel the world. Liu Wan expresses admiration for her.
As Luo Shu leaves the Zhou residence, she finds Qi Menglin waiting for her. Touched by his loyalty, she shares her plans with him, and he decides to accompany her on her journey. Zhou Xian writes a divorce letter to Xiao Yue, who leaves the Zhou family with the child. Han Muzhi dismisses Zhou Xian from his teaching position.
