As Jiayue navigates adolescence, she learns valuable lessons about love, both giving and receiving, through her friendships. Her journey is a mix of sweet, secret crushes and the anxieties that come with growing up. She also becomes friends with Chen Mo.

This has created a rift between them, a strained mother-daughter relationship marked by distance and unspoken feelings.

However, the family is drawn back together when Xiu'e's mother (Jiayue's grandmother) passes away. This event forces Xiu'e, Jiayue, and Jiayue's grandmother to confront their complex emotional ties, ultimately leading to a resolution of the generational tensions within the family. Xiu'e's character represents the challenges faced by many women of her generation, balancing personal history with the demands of motherhood and a changing society.
