This episode delves into the lingering impact of the past and the burgeoning aspirations of the younger generation. The textile mill where Xiao Han's father, Xiao Youguang, and Qian Jiayue's parents once worked has established a memorial hall. The grand opening becomes a reunion for former employees. Xiao Han and his mother, Guan Aiping, attend, initially believing that Xiao Youguang might have been forgotten. To their surprise, a dedicated section within the memorial honors him, filled with photos and personal belongings. The old factory manager gives a moving speech, expressing the factory's enduring gratitude and remembrance of Xiao Youguang, leaving Xiao Han deeply moved.
This event brings Xiao Han a sense of closure and comfort, realizing his father's legacy lives on. He shares a poem with Qian Jiayue about how even though a bird leaves no trace in the sky, it has still flown, reflecting his newfound peace. Qian Jiayue, inspired by the memorial and the stories of the factory, writes an article detailing the touching human experiences within the mill's history.
Qian Jiayue's ambition takes a hit when her article isn't accepted for the school publication. Her mother, Chen Xiu'e, noticing her daughter's growing quietness since entering middle school, steps in to boost her confidence. Chen Xiu'e visits the school, speaking with Qian Jiayue's teacher. It turns out that Qian Jiayue's submission was simply too late for the deadline. The teacher in charge of the school paper, Teacher Wang, even suggests Qian Jiayue apply to be a school reporter.
Back home, Qian Jiayue is thrilled by the news and dons a new pair of sunglasses her mother bought her – not only are they good for her eyes, but they also add a touch of flair. Qian Jiayue begins brainstorming ideas for her first piece as a potential school reporter, even seeking advice from her online friends.
Meanwhile, a flashback reveals the lasting impact of Qian Jiayue's selfless protection of Mao Tou. He vividly remembers her bravery, arms outstretched, shielding him from harm. This memory inspires Mao Tou to write a fantastical essay for his language class titled "An Unforgettable Moment," with the subtitle "A Heroic and Valiant Female Knight." While Mao Tou is lost in sweet reminiscence as the teacher reads his work aloud, the teacher is unimpressed, assigning him to rewrite it.
Xiao Han tutors a client's son, and Mao Tou's father, Zhang Qiming, arrives to pick them up, using the pretense of needing Xiao Han to tutor Mao Tou. Mao Tou, usually unmotivated, suddenly agrees and even presents Xiao Han with an advanced math book. Xiao Han is surprised by Mao Tou's sudden interest in challenging material, especially since it's an expensive textbook he himself couldn't afford. Feeling a blow to his pride, Xiao Han intends to leave with his mother, but Zhang Qiming tries to smooth things over by asking where Xiao Han wants to take his mother for her upcoming birthday, offering to make a reservation. Xiao Han curtly replies that he will handle his mother's birthday celebration himself.
Despite the rejection, Zhang Qiming persists. A few days later, he takes Xiao Han's mother to the cemetery. He proposes moving Xiao Youguang's grave there, so that Xiao Han's parents can be together after death, with Zhang Qiming's own plot nearby. He hopes this gesture will win Xiao Han's favor, but Xiao Han's mother disagrees with his plan.
Finally, Qian Jiayue and her friend Ka Men learn that the pop star Jeff Chang is holding a fan meet-and-greet in their city. They eagerly wait in line, but just as they're about to reach the front, they're told that Jeff Chang has to leave for a flight to Beijing. Ka Men whispers a suggestion to Qian Jiayue: wait for him in the underground parking garage.
