The drama intensifies in Episode 31 of "Perfect Match," with betrayal, accusations, and a healthy dose of family intrigue.
The episode opens with Qiong'nu visiting the Yang household to see Le Shan, unaware that Yinping is secretly searching Le Shan's room for the golden scepter. Le Shan catches Yinping in the act, but lets her go, remembering Lady Li's prior advice. Le Shan, however, has cleverly hidden the scepter under her bed.
Meanwhile, Yang Zhu'niang anxiously awaits news from Yinping, but her husband, Jiang Chaozong, appears with a scheme of his own to target Le Shan. That night, tragedy strikes – Yinping commits suicide by throwing herself down a well. The Yang family is in chaos. They rush to call Le Shan, but she has already locked her doors and is ignoring the commotion. Yang Xian is impressed with her calmness, but Le Shan knows she must find a way to deal with the situation to avoid further trouble.
The next morning, Le Shan is preparing to return to the Li household when Yang Zhu'niang confronts her. Le Shan has the golden scepter, so even though Yang Zhu'niang is spewing hateful words, she is unable to stop her. Jiang Chaozong comforts Yang Zhu'niang, reminding her that even if Le Shan escapes, the members of Si Fu Zhai are still in Bianjing.
Le Shan returns to the Li family and informs Lady Li and the others about the incident. She also consults with her fourth sister, Hao De, about the laws regarding the death of servants, wanting to know how Shen Huizhao would handle the case. Simultaneously, Yang Demao praises his concubine's son, Yang Yi, for his academic achievements, bringing honor to the family. Chen Xiaogu, the concubine, is overjoyed.
The plot thickens when Yinping's parents storm the Yang residence, claiming Yinping was six months pregnant when she died. Yang Demao is furious and immediately summons Yang Xian, with the entire family accusing him of being the father. Yang Xian vehemently denies the accusations, maintaining his innocence.
However, everyone – his father, mother, sisters, and even his half-brother – turns against him, pressuring him to confess. Yang Demao, enraged by Yang Xian's defiance, whips him across the face, leaving a bloody mark. Just in time, Le Shan arrives and fiercely defends Yang Xian's innocence. Lady Li also steps in, protecting her son-in-law and declaring that Yang Xian, as part of the Li family, is like her own son and will not be slandered.
Yang Xian is deeply touched by the unprecedented support from Le Shan and Lady Li. He also stands his ground, emphasizing that as the legitimate son of the Yang family, his grandfather had promised him the family's ancestral home, shops, and land, and he will not allow outsiders to take them. Le Shan decides to take the case to court, ordering Yinping's parents to be taken away, and then leads Yang Xian back to their room.
Lady Li encourages Le Shan to personally tend to Yang Xian's wounds, further deepening their bond. Seeing the young couple's growing affection, Lady Li excuses herself to give them privacy. Le Shan, however, doesn't stop there. She secretly sends someone to follow Yinping's mother, Lady Jiang, and discovers her secret meetings with Jiang Chaozong's servant.
It turns out Yang Zhu'niang had already suspected Jiang Chaozong's affair with Yinping, and believes he murdered Yinping to frame Yang Xian. The cunning Jiang Chaozong denies everything, but as an outsider, he has long coveted the Yang family's assets, making Yang Xian his primary obstacle. Yinping's death was the perfect opportunity to set him up.
Soon, rumors spread throughout the town that Le Shan, driven by jealousy, forced Yinping to commit suicide while pregnant. Le Shan is not only labeled a jealous woman but is also implicated in a murder case, infuriating her. Yang Zhu'niang seizes the opportunity to invite monks to perform rituals for Yinping for a hundred days. Le Shan suspects Yang Zhu'niang has ulterior motives and instructs her maid, Yu Zan, to act secretly.
That night, after tending to Yang Xian's wounds, Le Shan enjoys the cool air in the garden. Yang Xian, worried about her safety, can't sleep and goes outside. Suddenly, a sorceress, Qiu Pozi, appears in the Yang family garden, claiming Le Shan is possessed. Yang Zhu'niang uses this as an excuse to seize Le Shan. However, Le Shan turns the tables, beating up the servants and, with Yang Xian's protection, thrashing Yang Zhu'niang and Jiang Chaozong, finally venting her anger.
