He Jiayi's decision to make her older sister, He Jiali, write an IOU had a hidden motive. It was a way to get back at Jiali for strongly opposing their relationship in the past. However, Jiayi ultimately tears up the IOU, showing that the gesture was more about making a point than actually collecting the debt. Ouyang Bao learns that Jiali is going back to her old profession of selling vegetables and reflects on how everyone seems to be reverting to their past.
Before dawn, Zhang Jianguo rides his tricycle, accompanying He Jiali to the wholesale market to buy vegetables and then drops her off at her selling spot. However, Jiali's prices are a bit higher than others, so she has very few customers. After returning home, Jiali decides to move back in with her family to make it easier to buy and sell vegetables.
Besides Jiali, He Jiaxi, who is heavily pregnant, is also staying at the He family home. She complains about her mother-in-law Wang Huaimin's cooking. Liu Meixin tells her she's just being picky and that the priority is to have a smooth delivery; everything else is secondary. That evening, Wang Huaimin gives Jiaxi a small sweater, claiming she knitted it herself, but Jiaxi sees through the lie. Huaimin is obsessed with having a grandson, but Yan Hongyu doesn't care about the baby's gender, which slightly comforts Jiaxi.
He Jiahuan is working hard and quickly gets promoted to director. Because her husband was laid off, she contacts Yan Hongyu to help find connections for Fang Tao to become a taxi driver. However, Fang Tao feels he's only ever driven trucks for cargo, never passengers, and is indifferent about the opportunity.
Early one morning, Liu Meixin visits her daughter and finds Jiali's business is very slow. She suggests Jiali consider selling eggs. Jiali takes her advice, and soon after, Aunt Liu and Wang Huaimin come to buy eggs. Wang Huaimin, being family, doesn't pay, taking advantage of the situation.
Tang Weimin sees He Jiali selling eggs at the market and rushes to help. He suggests she become the manager of one of his bakery branches. Jiali discusses it with Zhang Jianguo at home, and he fully supports her. However, Jiali feels she's unfamiliar with the bakery business and worries about making Zhang Qiufang jealous, so she politely declines. Zhang Jianguo tells Jiali that his work unit is about to allocate two-bedroom apartments, which greatly excites Jiali.
Meanwhile, Liu Xiaoling and Tang Zhenmin have a huge fight and go their separate ways. Zhenmin returns to his brother's house, complaining that Xiaoling is "murderous." Jiali is also at Xiaoling's bedside, caring for her. She's heartbroken that her sister had an abortion but also feels Xiaoling shouldn't have acted on her own. Xiaoling explains she had no choice; delaying it further would have endangered her life. She had wanted Zhenmin to accompany her to the hospital, but he was unhelpful and uncaring, showing no responsibility.
Zhang Qiulin believes that while Xiaoling was wrong, Tang Zhenmin was equally at fault, and that marital problems are cumulative. Qiulin then brings Zhenmin to apologize to Xiaoling, but both are reluctant. Jiali tells them to remember how deeply in love they once were and that they should now be understanding and forgiving of each other.
The day He Jiaxi goes into labor, Liu Meixin, He Jiali, Wang Huaimin, and Yan Hongyu wait outside. Because the baby is too large, a C-section is needed. Wang Huaimin initially objects, fearing it will be bad for her "grandson." Considering the danger to both mother and child, Yan Hongyu signs the consent form. Jiaxi safely delivers a baby girl. Huaimin, upon learning it's a girl, immediately changes her attitude, leaving without even looking at the baby. Jiaxi, seeing Huaimin's reaction, cries in bed, and everyone comforts her.
Not long after, Chen Weiguo returns from Sichuan, looking travel-worn. He happily eats the food his wife made. However, He Jiawen notices her husband's complexion is off, even yellowish, and quickly gets a mirror for him. The next morning, Jiawen takes Weiguo to the hospital, where he's diagnosed with Hepatitis A and immediately hospitalized. Colleagues and sisters visit him. He Jiahuan prepares some money, but Jiawen, knowing her sisters' financial situations aren't great, declines the offer, and Jiahuan doesn't insist.
