The episode opens with He Wen's health rapidly declining. She's deeply homesick, and a poignant scene shows her and He Jiali standing on the dock, gazing longingly into the distance. A large birthday celebration is held for He Wen, with the whole family gathering. Liu Xiaoling can't attend in person but calls to offer her best wishes. After the meal, He Jiali informs He Jiahuan that Zhang Qiulin has remarried, urging her to cherish the people around her.
He Jiayi has a new business venture in mind: a community-focused guesthouse. This plan requires a new building, and she sets her sights on the property owned by He Jiaxi's mother-in-law, Wang Huaimin. He Jiayi visits Wang Huaimin under the guise of a friendly call and proposes buying the house. Wang Huaimin agrees to consider it. Back home, He Jiayi discusses selling their current house with Ouyang Bao to finance the purchase. She eventually presents Wang Huaimin with a large sum of money, and they finalize the sale agreement.
Soon after, He Xiangdong and Li Wen get married. The young couple toasts their parents and elders, and the family is overjoyed. Li Wen expresses her gratitude to the elders for raising He Xiangdong and shares her wish to have a child soon. After the busy wedding day, He Jiali and Zhang Jianguo finally have a moment to rest, but they are interrupted by a sound from He Wen's room. They find her weak and bedridden. Although He Wen claims she's just tired, He Jiali is deeply worried and stays by her side.
Meanwhile, He Jiahuan is taken away by the procuratorate (prosecutor's office), causing a stir among her colleagues. Fang Tao learns from his son that He Jiahuan hasn't been home all night and rushes to her colleague, Xiao Qiu, for information. He discovers that the procuratorate is involved. The family keeps the news from He Wen and Liu Meixin. He Jiali, as the eldest sister, tries to figure out a solution, lamenting their string of bad luck.
Winter arrives, and He Wen can no longer eat; she is terminally ill. In her final moments, He Wen tells He Jiali to take care of herself and not rely on her children. Her only worry is that Liu Meixin won't be able to treat all her children equally. The next morning, the sisters and their children gather at the house. Liu Meixin speaks with He Wen privately, and He Wen gives her a pair of gold earrings before passing away.
That night, snow falls heavily. He Jiali sits alone in her room, reminiscing about He Wen and weeping. Neighbors from the old street come to pay their respects, and a wave of grief washes over everyone. Fang Tao, deeply affected by He Jiahuan's words, has aged overnight, his hair turning white. His appearance at the memorial service shocks everyone.
Later, Liu Meixin learns about He Jiahuan's arrest. She firmly believes that her fourth daughter is innocent and wouldn't be involved in corruption. Ouyang Bao gives Liu Meixin the list of guests and the money they gifted, but Liu Meixin immediately hands it over to He Jiaxi. However, He Jiaxi is upset that He Jiayi is turning her mother-in-law's house into a guesthouse. He Jiayi also feels that her mother is too partial, always favoring He Jiaxi and prioritizing her youngest daughter's needs.
Zhang Qiulin proactively contacts He Jiali, revealing that He Jiahuan's immediate superior is definitely involved in some wrongdoing and that two vice presidents, including He Jiahuan, are suspected of being accomplices. Although Zhang Qiulin and Fang Tao share doubts, they can only try their best to find a lawyer to help He Jiahuan with the lawsuit. Fang Tao expresses his gratitude to Zhang Qiulin.
During breakfast, Li Wen reveals to He Jiali that she is pregnant. He Jiali is overjoyed and treats her like a precious jewel, only regretting that her grandmother couldn't witness this day. This comment dampens the mood at the table, and Li Wen quickly adds that her grandmother is watching over them from heaven.
