Episode Summary
Liu Meixin deals with her grief by clearing out her mother-in-law's belongings, causing friction with He Jiali. Family tensions rise as various members navigate living arrangements, job changes, and past resentments. Li Wen gives birth, and He Jiawen moves into a new home. He Jiaxi plots to get Liu Xiaoling to leave after Xiaoling returns home divorced. Tang Weimin passes away after a family celebration.

The episode opens with Liu Meixin, still deeply grieving the loss of her mother-in-law, He Wen, taking it upon herself to clear out the deceased woman's belongings. She feels that keeping them will only prolong her sadness. This action upsets He Jiali, Wenshi's daughter, but Meixin is resolute. Jiali's attempt to persuade Meixin to move back to her own home for the New Year is rebuffed, leading to a strained parting between mother and daughter.
The next day, Meixin seeks out her other daughter, He Jiaxi, to complain. Jiaxi, ever the instigator, uses the opportunity to stir up trouble, accusing her mother of always appearing selfless while secretly acting in her own self-interest. However, Jiaxi, trying to avoid the responsibility of caring for her mother, cleverly suggests that Meixin should accept Jiali's offer of care. Jiali arrives soon after, managing to coax her mother back home with soothing words.
Jiali updates Meixin on the lives of their other sisters, urging her to stop being angry with her. As the sounds of New Year firecrackers fill the air, Meixin reflects on the passage of another year and the dwindling size of their family. She acknowledges Jiali's good fortune in marrying a man like Zhang Jianguo, and Jiali playfully replies that Meixin's own blessing lies in having six daughters.
Eight months later, Li Wen gives birth to a daughter. Jiali prepares a traditional red envelope for her daughter-in-law. Because Li Wen's mother will be taking care of the baby, Jiali doesn't insist on helping. He Xiangdong and Li Wen have already chosen a name for their daughter, He Wen Yiyi, combining elements from both their names.
Meanwhile, He Jiawen and Lao Fan move into their new home, complete with a bedroom ready for Chen Guangming, creating a picture of familial harmony. He Jiayi advises He Jiaxi, to move in order to improve her life. Zhang Jianguo, acting on a request, helps Jiaxi find a good job at an inspection factory. Jiaxi then suggests to Yan Hongyu that they sell their current house and use the money to find a new place.
Meixin has been secretly calling Jiaxi to complain about Jiali. Jiali overhears one of these calls and mistakenly believes her mother has found a new romantic partner. However, when Jiali subtly inquires, Meixin vehemently denies it, even lashing out, accusing Jiali of wanting to take over the house and hoping she'll remarry.
Fang Tao is still thinking about He Jiahuan. His son comforts him with his understanding. A lawyer calls to inform them that Jiahuan has been cleared of all charges and will be returning home soon, bringing immense joy to father and son. Meixin, wanting to keep a place for her youngest daughter, has been causing trouble, even eating her meals separately. Jiali realizes her mother doesn't want to live with her, leaving Jianguo at a loss.
As Jianguo and Jiali are putting up Spring Festival couplets outside their door, they hear a familiar voice. It's Liu Xiaoling, who has returned alone, bringing the sad news of her divorce. Jiaxi, seeing Xiaoling back home, worries about losing her own space and starts plotting to make her leave.
That evening, Jiaxi has a private conversation with Xiaoling, pointing out that it's inappropriate for her to stay at home, especially given her current circumstances, and that it will embarrass her in front of her son, Yangyang. Jiaxi advises Xiaoling to avoid Yangyang and find a good job first. Xiaoling takes Jiaxi's words to heart.
Zhang Qiufang warns Tang Weimin to be prepared, as Xiaoling's return means she will eventually want to reclaim Yangyang. Their daughter returns from abroad with a foreign son-in-law, Mark, much to the family's delight. They host a lavish reception at a grand hotel. During the family photo, Tang Weimin, sitting contentedly on the sofa, suddenly loses consciousness. Despite the doctor's efforts, he passes away. Xiaoling finally sees Yangyang and suggests he come live with her, but Yangyang doesn't immediately agree.
