Spoiler Alert
A subway station is abruptly shut down by police after reports of a suspicious box found on the tracks. Captain Shu He evacuates the crowd and directs bomb disposal teams to investigate—only to discover the lifeless body of Liao Zhibai inside the container. The shocking twist sends ripples through the precinct.
Twenty-eight hours before Liao Zhibai’s death, a wounded Gade staggers to his father’s mansion, pleading for help, but receives no answer. Surveillance footage analyzed by Bai Zhihan reveals the mansion belongs to Na Wei, a wealthy tax-paying elite with legal gun licenses and close ties to Yuan Dudu, a high-ranking political figure. Liao Zhibai deduces Gade is Na Wei’s illegitimate son, exposing a web of corruption: Tie Xin, Na Wei’s enforcer, oversees drug trafficking operations once run by Liao Zhibai’s late father, Liao Nianguo.
Liao Zhibai confronts Na Wei’s compound, betting the crime lord will protect Gade. Instead, Na Wei’s guards open fire. The team narrowly escapes when Su Taipu sacrifices himself as a distraction—only to be gunned down by Tie Xin’s arriving reinforcements. A devastated Xiao Jiu waits in vain for Su Taipu’s return, unaware of his fate. Shu He attempts to interrogate Na Wei but is stonewalled by the tycoon’s immunity claims, backed by pressure from Reynolds, a compromised superior.
Meanwhile, Liao Zhibai leaks a list of Na Wei’s government collaborators to the media, igniting public outrage. Shu He suspects Na Wei orchestrated a decade-old arson that killed his sister, Ti Yi, but Reynolds shields Na Wei, citing a coerced confession from forensic examiner Xu Sheng.
Na Wei retaliates by demanding Liao Zhibai’s arrest, threatening Reynolds’ career. In a bold courtroom stunt, Liao Zhibai presents a bloodstained pen as evidence linking Na Wei to Liao Nianguo’s murder—only for forensic analyst Qi Xia to debunk the match. Unbeknownst to all, Na Wei burns the real pen in his fireplace, erasing the last physical proof of his guilt.
As allies A Gan and Bai Han prepare to disband their team, Shu He confronts Liao Zhibai about surviving the fire that killed his family. Liao cryptically warns, “Don’t let me die twice.” With public pressure mounting and Na Wei’s empire still intact, the episode closes on a knife’s edge: justice remains just out of reach.
