Me and My Family: A Heartwarming Dramedy of Unexpected Twists
Meet Gu Yunsu (played by Zhou Yutong), a 28-year-old aspiring screenwriter whose life takes a nosedive when she faces both heartbreak and unemployment. Seeking refuge, she returns home to her mother, Wu Limei (played by Wu Yue). But home is not quite what she expected. At 48, Wu Limei has not only remarried but is alsopregnant!
Suddenly, Yunsu finds herselfplaying caretaker to her high-riskpregnancy mother, all while navigating life under one roof with a stepfather she barely knows, Li Jianxiong, and a new stepbrother, Li Yan, she has no blood relation with. "Me and My Family" mines the humor and heart in this unusual living situation, showcasing the relatable squabbles (like fighting over the TV remote) and the deeper moments of vulnerability as the family confrontspast traumas.
Over 180 days of thepregnancy, Yunsu and Limei's relationshiptransforms. They move from clashing over differing views and misunderstandings to aplace ofprofound understanding and mutual reliance. Limei discovers her daughter's nurturing side, while Yunsu rediscovers her deeplove for her mother.
