Episode Summary
Gu Yunsu runs away after recalling painful childhood memories. Her mother, Wu Limei, is hospitalized, and Yunsu diligently cares for her. Gu Kangqi, misunderstanding the situation, believes Wu Limei had an abortion and attempts to reconcile, leading to confusion. Li Jianxiong and Li Yan also feature, with a humorous scene involving soup. Wu Limei surprisingly agrees to Gu Kangqi bringing her meals daily.

The episode opens with Gu Yunsu, distraught and overwhelmed, running away from home. She's flooded with childhood memories of her father, Gu Kangqi, who was always absent, caught up in work engagements. We see that Wu Limei, Yunsu's mother, is ready to divorce Kangqi. However, she wants to tell Yunsu and ask which parent she wants to live with. Young Yunsu, wanting to keep her parents together, chooses her father, hoping it will make her mother reconsider the divorce. But things don't go as planned. On Yunsu's birthday, she comes home excited, only to witness her parents fighting. Wu Limei leaves, and Yunsu is devastated, unable to stop her mother from seemingly abandoning her.
A phone call snaps Yunsu back to the present. It's Li Jianxiong, informing her that Wu Limei is bleeding. Yunsu instructs him to call for an ambulance (120 in China) and send her the hospital's address. At the hospital, Yunsu proves to be a knowledgeable and dedicated daughter. She answers the doctor's questions about Wu Limei's condition accurately, having researched everything beforehand. Wu Limei is surprised and touched by Yunsu's thoroughness.
The episode then shifts to a heartwarming flashback. Young Yunsu tells Wu Limei that she chose her as her mother from among many other potential mothers in the sky, using a lot of stars to "buy" the opportunity. In the present, Wu Limei tells Yunsu that giving birth to her was the bravest thing she's ever done. They share a smile, and even Li Jianxiong is moved by their bond.
Meanwhile, Li Yan has breakfast with Gu Kangqi. Kangqi boasts about himself during the drive to school. Before getting out of the car, Li Yan mentions that things haven't been good at home and that Wu Limei is in the hospital. Later, Li Yan wants to try some of the soup his father, Li Jianxiong, made for Wu Limei. Li Jianxiong acts dramatically, serving the soup with a flourish (sticking his pinky finger out), and tells Li Yan that it is for "nourishing Yin." Li Yan, weirded out by his father's pinky gesture, declines the soup and heads off to school, reminding his father to wash his hands.
Wu Limei spends some time in the hospital, with Yunsu taking devoted care of her. Gu Kangqi, upon hearing about Wu Limei's hospitalization, mistakenly believes she had an abortion. Still hoping for reconciliation, he prepares some light, pregnancy-friendly meals (via takeout, as he can't cook) and brings them to the hospital. Yunsu, worried about a confrontation, intercepts her father outside the ward. After Li Jianxiong leaves with food that Wu Limei enjoys, Yunsu brings Gu Kangqi in to see Wu Limei.
Gu Kangqi, determined to win Wu Limei back, wears the suit he wore when he proposed and puts on his wedding ring. Wu Limei and Yunsu are confused by his words and actions, not understanding his misconception. Gu Kangqi declares his intention to bring meals every day. Yunsu doesn't want him to, but, surprisingly, Wu Limei agrees.
