Episode Summary
Wu Limei visits her ex-husband, Gu Kangqi, in the hospital, showing lingering affection. Her current husband, Li Jianxiong, is exceptionally caring, contrasting with other patients' husbands. Limei's health requires hospitalization, and she meddles in her daughter Gu Yunsu's love life, causing tension between Yunsu, her ex Qin Yuxuan, and Xu Wenbin. A fight between Jianxiong and Kangqi goes viral, causing embarrassment and problems for their families. Yuxuan admits he still has feelings for Yunsu.

In this episode, the tangled relationships of the Gu family continue to unravel and re-form in unexpected ways. Gu Yunsu, still reeling from her mother's unexpected pregnancy, informs Wu Limei about Gu Kangqi's (Yunsu's father and Limei's ex-husband) hospitalization. Despite their messy divorce, Limei visits Kangqi, showing she still harbors some feelings for her former love. On the way back to the ward, Limei reflects on her relationship with her new husband, Li Jianxiong. She tells Yunsu that while Jianxiong is completely different from the ambitious Kangqi, his ordinary and stable nature is exactly what she wants now. Jianxiong, ever the attentive partner, arrives at the hospital, worried about Limei's upcoming blood test and wanting to make sure she's comfortable. Yunsu witnesses their affection and is happy her mother has found such happiness.
Meanwhile, Kangqi wakes up to find a bowl of congee by his bedside. The simple meal triggers a wave of regret, reminding him of the painful divorce proceedings with Limei. He had always envisioned a prosperous life with her, and their bitter separation still stings.
Jianxiong's considerate nature is further highlighted when he avoids using the shared bathroom in the hospital room, knowing that pregnant women need frequent access. He also agrees to look after a neighboring patient when her sister has to leave for school. When the neighbor's husband is late and she faints after a blood test, it's Jianxiong and Limei who come to her rescue. The ward is full of inattentive husbands glued to their phones, except for Jianxiong, who is completely focused on Limei. The neighboring patient discovers her husband was gaming all night, not attending a work function as he claimed. She confronts him, pointing out Jianxiong's attentiveness to Limei and expressing how embarrassing her own husband's behavior is.
Limei's health takes a turn, and Dr. Liu Wenbin advises her to stay in the hospital for a week of observation. Concerned that Yunsu is moving too slowly in her pursuit of Xu Wenbin, Limei decides to play matchmaker. She deliberately contacts Qin Yuxuan, Yunsu's ex, who shows up just as Yunsu is confessing her feelings to Wenbin. Wenbin, wanting Yunsu and Yuxuan to resolve their issues, doesn't accept Yunsu's confession. Yuxuan is furious, and Yunsu later discovers her mother's manipulation. Limei justifies her actions by comparing the situation to the competitive world of male lions, suggesting that creating a sense of urgency will spur Wenbin to action. Indeed, Yuxuan's reappearance seems to have made Wenbin a bit anxious.
Yunsu, wanting her mother to experience a similar sense of competition, orchestrates a situation where Jianxiong catches Kangqi delivering food to Limei. Jianxiong learns that Kangqi has been visiting daily, while Kangqi discovers that Limei's baby is still alive. The two men get into a heated brawl in the hospital corridor, which is filmed and goes viral online. Limei is mortified, leaving the hospital in disguise. The video also causes problems for Li Yan (Limei and Jianxiong's son) at school, and Jianxiong becomes the subject of gossip at work.
Kangqi, also forced to leave the hospital due to the scandal, visits Limei at home to apologize for his past mistakes. Unfortunately, Jianxiong isn't home at the time.
Finally, Yuxuan arranges a meeting with Yunsu, admitting that he still has feelings for her and wants to discuss their novel. He reveals that he plans to stay in town for a week or two, subtly feeding Yunsu information about the novel. Yunsu, annoyed and finding his behavior ridiculous, abruptly leaves.
