Me and My Family: Episode 14

Spoiler Alert

In Episode 14 of "Me and My Family," the tangled web of relationships surrounding Wu Limei, Gu Kangqi, and Li Jianxiong gets even more complicated. It turns out Gu Kangqi never really got over Wu Limei. Flashbacks reveal that he even showed up at her wedding to Li Jianxiong, defacing the wedding photo by tearing off Li Jianxiong's name and sticking gum on his face.

In the present, Li Jianxiong is feeling the heat at work after his fight with Gu Kangqi. He's hiding in his office, avoiding his colleagues. Gu Kangqi comes to apologize, but things almost get physical again in the restroom. Li Jianxiong, desperate to save face, asks Gu Kangqi to pretend they were strangers who got into a misunderstanding over a medical dispute. Gu Kangqi agrees, and they put on a show for Li Jianxiong's coworkers. However, at least one colleague overheard their entire conversation in the restroom, but doesn't reveal that to Li Jianxiong.

Later, Li Jianxiong and Gu Kangqi go out for drinks, surprisingly bonding and ending up drunk. Li Yan has to come to get them and bring them home. Wu Limei puts a tipsy Li Jianxiong to bed, where he confesses his jealousy over her past passionate relationship with Gu Kangqi. He feels like Wu Limei chose him because he was the "safe" option. Wu Limei finds his drunken ramblings both amusing and endearing, deepening her affection for him.

Gu Yunsu is astonished that two men over 100 years old are fighting and drinking over her mother. Wu Limei admits that it does stroke her ego, but it's not entirely a pleasant feeling.

Facing their relationship dilemmas, Wu Limei and Gu Yunsu seek advice from Jingjing, who's more experienced in love. Jingjing's advice is to cut to the chase. Wu Limei, realizing Gu Kangqi has been secretly delivering gifts, invites him over for a talk. She shares fond memories, like when he took her on motorcycle rides. Following Jingjing's advice, Wu Limei writes down her impressions of Gu Kangqi and gives them to him. However, she also writes a much longer, more detailed list for Li Jianxiong, who is thrilled to have "won" against Gu Kangqi. Gu Yunsu observes their interaction, gathering material for her writing.

That night, Li Jianxiong, inspired by Wu Limei, starts documenting his own impressions of her. He recalls her initial "shrewish" behavior and how her rejection of him felt ruthless. Flashbacks show a young Li Jianxiong, heartbroken after Wu Limei turned him down, getting injured during a work assignment. It is revealed that Wu Limei eventually decided to marry him not out of pity, but out of genuine love. However, there was a period after Li Jianxiong's hospital discharge when Wu Limei disappeared, leaving him waiting for a long time before they finally married.

Thinking about Gu Yunsu, Wu Limei and Li Jianxiong suspect she's also writing about her feelings for Qin Yuxuan and Xu Wenbin. They trick Li Yan into getting Gu Yunsu out of the house, then sneak into Gu Yunsu's room to find her notes.
