Spoiler Alert

In Episode 18 of "Me and My Family," things get heated and emotional. Wu Limei finds out that Gu Yunsu has posted her story online and she is furious. She even catches Li Jianxiong secretly reading the story and calls him a traitor. They get into a spat, but it's nothing serious, and Li Jianxiong quickly smooths things over. Gu Yunsu, ever the aspiring writer, snaps pictures and declares she'll include their argument in her story, which Li Jianxiong agrees to.

Gu Yunsu then confronts her family, revealing that Xu Wenbin has been divorced and that she's tracked down his ex-wife. This prompts the whole family to visit Xu Wenbin's ex-wife's clinic, as she works in the thoracic surgery department. Gu Yunsu, Wu Limei, and Li Jianxiong each get check-ups, all agreeing that Xu Wenbin's ex is quite attractive. After hearing everyone's opinions, Gu Yunsu starts feeling a bit insecure.

As Wu Limei and her family are leaving the hospital, they run into Yunxi, a friend from her youth. Yunxi is now wealthy and staying in a private room, but is suffering from a terminal illness. Wu Limei is heartbroken to learn that her long-lost friend is facing such a grim diagnosis. The episode flashes back to their younger days, showing how Yunxi often helped Wu Limei, even babysitting Gu Yunsu when Wu Limei was busy selling clothes.

One time, Yunxi subtly refused to babysit, and Wu Limei noticed bruises on her, suspecting domestic abuse. However, Yunxi denied it and asked Wu Limei not to interfere. Later, Yunxi endures another beating and seeks refuge at Wu Limei's home. Wu Limei, witnessing her friend's suffering, wants to call the police, but Yunxi refuses. Unable to sleep and haunted by memories of the abuse, Yunxi relies on sleeping pills. Wu Limei doesn't have any, so she promises to buy some the next day. That night, she and a still-awake Gu Yunsu keep Yunxi company, sharing snacks and watching TV.

The story continues with Yunxi and Wu Limei selling clothes together. Yunxi's husband shows up, publicly apologizing and begging her to come home. Wu Limei tries to intervene, but Yunxi goes with him. However, Yunxi's return isn't about forgiveness; she demands a divorce, which results in another violent attack. Luckily, Wu Limei and Gu Yunsu followed them. Hearing the commotion, Wu Limei tells Gu Yunsu to stay in the hallway and call Li Jianxiong. Wu Limei rushes in to save Yunxi, secretly recording the assault and getting injured herself in the process. Gu Yunsu's quick thinking pays off, and Li Jianxiong arrives in time to subdue Yunxi's husband. Li Jianxiong, prompted by Wu Limei, realizes he had met Yunxi in his younger days.

In the present, Wu Limei returns to the hospital to visit Yunxi, only to be told by a nurse that she's been discharged. Disappointed, Wu Limei goes home and receives a message from Yunxi. Yunxi explains that she doesn't want to wait for the illness to take its toll; she wants to travel and asks Wu Limei not to worry.
