Li Jianxiong's medical scare turns out to be a benign inflammation, relieving the entire family. Wu Limei's checkup results are excellent – the baby is healthy. Back home, she frantically searches and finally finds Li Jianxiong's medical records, along with an insurance policy. This triggers a flashback to her younger days, when she was newly divorced and struggling to raise Gu Yunsu. Li Jianxiong was a constant source of support during that difficult time, and their friendship blossomed into a romance. However, they eventually broke up.
Gu Yunsu confronts her mother, remembering how she discovered Wu Limei's relationship as a child and how it ended. She asks if Li Jianxiong was the man and if their breakup was because of her childish outburst. Wu Limei confirms that her daughter's reaction was indeed the reason she separated from Li Jianxiong. Young Yunsu, upset at the thought of losing her mother after already losing her father, threw a tantrum. Wu Limei, feeling guilty about the divorce's impact on Yunsu, decided to prioritize her daughter's feelings. She met with Li Jianxiong and ended their relationship, explaining that Yunsu deserved to be respected and treated fairly. She suggested that if they were both still single when they were older, they could reconnect as friends or lovers. Li Jianxiong was heartbroken.
Gu Yunsu, filled with regret, realizes her mother sacrificed a relationship because of her. She plans to come clean to her mother, but Wu Limei already knows and shows Yunsu the insurance policy. Moved and saddened, Yunsu goes to the kitchen to help Li Jianxiong. Later, she tells Li Yan to accompany his father for his medical checkup, alarming him. The whole family accompanies Li Jianxiong to the hospital. He tries to be brave and refuses anesthesia, but ends up screaming so loudly everyone in the hallway can hear. Li Yan can't help but tease him. That night, Li Jianxiong and Wu Limei lie in bed, unable to sleep. Li Jianxiong confesses that he's been seeing flashbacks of their youth together. Wu Limei comforts him, assuring him that they'll face this challenge together as a family.
Li Jianxiong's test results are in: it's a benign inflammation. Dr. Yang even consulted with the hospital's leading breast specialist. The family is immensely relieved. Xu Wenbin, waiting outside, is also happy for Li Jianxiong. He and Gu Yunsu share a loving gaze, but Li Yan, filled with jealousy, later asks Gu Kangqi to join him in scrutinizing Xu Wenbin.
Xu Wenbin and Gu Yunsu finally confirm their relationship, strolling hand-in-hand by the West Lake. After all they've been through, they're finally together.
