Spoiler Alert
The episode opens with Song Cong, ever the helpful friend, snapping photos of passersby. But it's Qi Qi who's truly capturing the moment, framing Song Cong as the unexpected star of her own shots. As they wander into a nearby forest, Qi Qi reveals she has a birthday gift for Song Cong, whose birthday is the next day. Meanwhile, things are a bit awkward between Chen Huan'er and Jing Qichi. Finding the town a little dull, they decide to chill out and chat by the roadside. Later that evening, Qi Qi's mention of Jing Qichi elicits a strange reaction from Chen Huan'er. Jing Qichi, tossing and turning in bed, can't sleep, and Song Cong quietly comments on it. However, Song Cong's thoughts are elsewhere, anticipating Qi Qi's gift, which excites Jing Qichi when he hears about it.
The next day, Jing Qichi wakes up with a fever, thanks to catching a chill the night before. It's Song Cong's birthday, but Jing Qichi is stuck in bed. He gives Chen Huan'er a knowing look, encouraging Song Cong and Qi Qi to go out and enjoy the day. Chen Huan'er, taking on the role of caregiver, kicks the two lovebirds out of the house. It turns out Jing Qichi wasn't faking it; he really is sick. Chen Huan'er rushes to the kitchen to make him some congee (rice porridge with preserved egg and lean meat). By the time the porridge is ready, Jing Qichi has fallen asleep, but thankfully, his fever has broken. Chen Huan'er, remembering some advice from Huang Lu, tentatively reaches out and holds his hand, lost in memories of their many close moments. She's clearly smitten. Jing Qichi opens his eyes and finds Chen Huan'er sitting there, lost in thought. She quickly retracts her hand, playfully accusing him of grabbing it. Jing Qichi, claiming he's too weak, insists that Chen Huan'er feed him. Flustered, she shoves the porridge into his hands and flees the room.
Qi Qi finally presents Song Cong with her carefully chosen gift: a stethoscope. She expresses her hope that he'll become a great doctor. She places the stethoscope on her own chest, smiling, and asks if he can hear her heartbeat clearly. Song Cong, stunned for a moment, moves the stethoscope to his own chest and starts explaining the different areas of the heart. Qi Qi, completely ignoring his medical lesson, suddenly kisses him. She hears his heart racing and asks if his increased heart rate means he likes her.
Later that night, Jing Qichi and Chen Huan'er give Song Cong their birthday presents. They're also curious about where Song Cong and Qi Qi went during the day, but the pair are evasive. As the new semester begins, Qi Qi and Song Cong's "will they, won't they" dance continues. Chen Huan'er, however, predicts a resolution is near. Meanwhile, things between Jing Qichi and Chen Huan'er remain uneventful. Finals week arrives, sending the dorm into a frenzy. Chen Huan'er, amidst the chaos, is studying hard. At the library, she sees a senior student, Fu Ying, approach Jing Qichi. Fu Ying is interning at a tech website and wants to introduce Jing Qichi's website (which he created) to her company. Huang Lu, back at the dorm, gossips about Jing Qichi's apparent popularity with older female students, upsetting Chen Huan'er again.
Zhou Ye manages to get his hands on the final exam questions and shares them, but without the answers. The group turns to Jing Qichi for help. Dong Huixin produces practice exam questions from a friend, and Chen Huan'er immediately recognizes Jing Qichi's handwriting. Huang Lu jumps to the conclusion that Chen Huan'er and Jing Qichi are dating, causing Dong Huixin to frantically clarify that the handwriting belongs to Zhou Ye, not Jing Qichi. The two dorms are now fixated on Dong Huixin and Zhou Ye, who are both embarrassed by the attention.
Song Cong, reflecting on the kiss and Qi Qi's question, asks her to meet him. He admits that his feelings were real, and Qi Qi's persistent pursuit finally pays off. Qi Qi immediately shares the good news with Chen Huan'er, crediting Liao Xinyan's dating advice. Chen Huan'er calls Jing Qichi to tell him, mentioning that Song Cong and Qi Qi "already did that" in the mountains. Jing Qichi clearly misinterprets her meaning and calls Song Cong, ranting about him being a "scumbag."
On the day of the exam, it turns out that Zhou Ye's practice test was completely useless, bearing no resemblance to the actual exam content.
