Episode Summary
Zhou Ye buys a faulty practice exam and confronts the seller. The first semester ends with varied results for the students. Qian Lina's health scare worries Chen Huan'er, who discovers her mother's cancer diagnosis. Qi Qi clashes with her mother and announces her relationship with Song Cong. Amidst family gatherings and relationship drama, Qian Lina undergoes a biopsy, which thankfully turns out to be benign.

The episode kicks off with Zhou Ye in hot water. He shelled out 500 yuan for a practice exam, only to discover it's completely wrong. He tries to confront the seller, but the guy is totally arrogant about it. If it weren't for Jing Qichi holding him back, Zhou Ye would've gotten physical. Back at the dorm, Zhou Ye's still fuming, and it takes three friends to restrain him.
The first semester of college wraps up. Dong Huixin aced everything, while Huang Lu and Qiu Li flunked. Chen Huan'er pulls off a mediocre 76%, leaving room for improvement. Jing Qichi, however, surprises everyone by getting a perfect score in Calculus, a far cry from his high school performance.
Meanwhile, Chen Lei is staring at Qian Lina's medical report. Qian Lina reassures him, saying they'll know if it's benign or malignant after the biopsy. Chen Huan'er returns home for the break, excited to give her parents gifts. She's bummed to find her hand-knitted scarf ruined by spilled skincare products, but her parents, Qian Lina and Chen Lei, are still thrilled. Qian Lina reveals she bought insurance for Chen Huan'er, admitting her worry about not always being there for her daughter. The Jing and Song families are expected for dinner soon.
Qi Qi's homecoming is less joyful. Her mother confronts her about changing her major without permission, leading to another blow-up between them.
Before the New Year, the three families gather. Qi Qi, having run away from home after the fight with her mother, crashes at Chen Huan'er's place and joins the dinner. During a childish height comparison between Chen Huan'er and Jing Qichi, Lin Yifan comments on how well they suit each other. Hao Mei jumps in, declaring Chen Huan'er as her chosen daughter-in-law, sparking a playful tug-of-war with Song Cong's mother. Song Cong is bewildered, while Chen Huan'er and Jing Qichi stay silent. Hao Mei asks Chen Huan'er to choose between Jing Qichi and Song Cong. Qi Qi then stands up and blurts out that she and Song Cong are dating. Qian Lina quickly seats Qi Qi between Hao Mei and Song Cong. Qi Qi mentions needing to buy toiletries, but Song Cong stays behind to help clean up, not going with her.
After dinner, Chen Huan'er and Jing Qichi accompany Qi Qi to the store. Qi Qi confesses she regrets her earlier outburst, worried about Song Cong's reaction. Jing Qichi later talks to Song Cong privately. Song Cong admits he felt awkward discussing their relationship in front of their parents. Jing Qichi points out that Qi Qi was visibly upset earlier. Song Hang also talks to Song Cong about his relationship, but Song Cong doesn't seem to take it to heart, unlike Jing Qichi.
Song Cong messages Qi Qi, inviting her to a movie the next day. Jing Qichi, back home, looks at his father's photo, filled with sadness. Qi Qi falls asleep early, and Chen Huan'er asks Qian Lina for advice about confessing to someone she likes. Qian Lina enthusiastically encourages her, sharing a lot of advice and hinting at more she wants to say. The next day, Song Cong and Qi Qi go to the movies, and he tells her his parents are supportive of their relationship, delighting Qi Qi.
On New Year's Eve, Chen Huan'er's grandmother joins them. Song Cong's family celebrates harmoniously, Jing Qichi and his mother exchange New Year's greetings, but the atmosphere between Qi Qi and her mother remains tense. Chen Huan'er accidentally sees a text message on Qian Lina's phone, revealing her cancer diagnosis. The next day, her grandmother gives red envelopes to both Qian Lina and Chen Huan'er. Chen Huan'er confronts Qian Lina about the text message, but Qian Lina urges her to stay happy and not let her grandmother know.
Chen Huan'er confides in Jing Qichi at their secret base, trying to convince herself that her mother's tumor is benign. She puts on a brave face for her grandmother, who, it turns out, already knows about Qian Lina's condition. The grandmother hugs Chen Huan'er, reassuring her that everything will be alright. When the grandmother leaves, Qian Lina packs her a lot of food and medicine, then breaks down crying in the bathroom afterward.
After the New Year, Qian Lina has her biopsy. Chen Huan'er sits anxiously in the hospital corridor, and Jing Qichi brings her food. Chen Huan'er breaks down in his arms, the weight of the situation finally hitting her. Thankfully, Qian Lina's results come back benign. Jing Qichi helps them during her discharge, and Qian Lina jokingly calls him "son-in-law material."
