Spoiler Alert
The episode kicks off with Jing Qichi visiting Chen Huan'er at her home, early in the morning. Things are a little awkward between the new couple as they discuss when to tell their families about their relationship. Their conversation is interrupted by Chen Lei, Huan'er's father, who comes in to specifically instruct Xichi to take good care of Huan'er and, importantly, not let any "punks" snatch her away. Xichi agrees wholeheartedly, feeling a bit like a wolf guarding the henhouse. Huan'er decides it's best to hold off on telling her dad for now, sensing he might not be ready to accept her dating. As for Song Cong and Qi Qi, Xichi already spilled the beans about their relationship the night before.
Huan'er and Xichi meet up with Song Cong and Qi Qi, who are surprisingly calm about their friends' new relationship status, pointing out that the whole world already knew they liked each other. Song Cong doesn't miss the chance to tease Xichi, revealing that Xichi has liked Huan'er for a long time but was too afraid to confess, fearing rejection. The conversation shifts to their return trip to school. Qi Qi booked a business class ticket, while Song Cong has an economy class ticket. Qi Qi wants to swap her business class ticket for an economy one to sit with Song Cong, which makes him visibly uncomfortable. It's revealed that Qi Qi's mom has cut off her credit cards because of her changing majors, but Qi Qi has been selling some of her old clothes and bags. Qi Qi's mother, having read Qi Qi's online novel, acknowledges her daughter's talent and encourages her to study literature abroad, believing that writing online novels will only drain her passion for literature.
Back at school, Xichi and Huan'er plan to reveal their relationship to their roommates. Zhou Ye invites Huan'er's dorm to the guys' dorm for a hot pot dinner. Xichi goes into full-on cleaning mode, treating the situation like a major operation. That evening, Huan'er and her friends sneak into the guys' dorm, heavily disguised, under Xichi's guidance. Huan'er and Xichi secretly agree to announce their relationship while everyone is gathered. Zhou Ye is busy feeding Dong Huixin, showing off their own relationship. Huan'er and Xichi try to do the same, but no one pays them any attention. Even when they notice their matching couple's profile pictures, no one suspects they're together, reasoning that if they were going to get together, it would have happened long ago, and also isn't Xichi is supposed to like older women? Zhou Ye adds fuel to the fire by saying Xichi likes "mature women" and Huan'er likes "dominant CEOs," greatly irritating the couple. Just as they're about to announce their relationship, a power outage occurs due to the use of a high-powered appliance. They scramble to hide the hot pot, and the girls hide under the covers, narrowly avoiding getting caught by the dorm supervisor.
After a night of near-disasters, Xichi and Huan'er are eager to tell everyone about their relationship, but their roommates lose interest as soon as they hear it's about them. The couple is frustrated and confused. They reschedule their duty time to Wednesday afternoon, both meticulously dressing up for the occasion. Xichi even prepares roses, planning for their first kiss. However, as they gaze at each other, they can't help but burst into laughter. Just as the mood is finally right, Zhou Ye barges in, ruining the atmosphere and destroying Xichi's nut arrangement that spelled "LOVE."
Despite the ruined date, Huan'er is in good spirits. She asks Xichi when he started liking her, but it's hard to pinpoint. Huan'er reveals a little secret: their first hand-holding wasn't before her father's proposal, but rather when Xichi was sick during their vacation. Xichi realizes that Huan'er was playing the victim back then, and if he had woken up earlier, they might have gotten together much sooner. The lights in the gymnasium conveniently go out, giving Xichi the perfect opportunity to finally kiss Huan'er. Zhou Ye and the others cheer them on, revealing that they had known about the relationship all along and were just messing with them.
Meanwhile, Qi Qi is out drinking with a friend and is not in a good mood when talking about Song Cong. Qi Qi gets drunk, and Song Cong is called to take her home. Qi Qi, in her drunken state, insists that he have a drink with her. Song Cong reluctantly complies, but Qi Qi still refuses to leave until she's had her fill. Song Cong finally takes Qi Qi to a hotel. Song Cong has an exam the next morning, but Qi Qi refuses to let him go, claiming that he doesn't act like this when he likes someone, and she has seen how he acted when he liked Huan'er. A heated argument erupts between them. Song Cong expresses his disappointment and leaves, realizing that they were never on the same starting line. He always believed that sincere effort was enough in a relationship, but factors like family background are insurmountable obstacles.
