Jing Qichi is a soccer fanatic, and it's all thanks to his dad. His father, Jing Liqiang, reignited his passion after a past injury, convincing Lin Yifan (Qichi's mom) to let him play, provided he avoids further injury. Qichi is now terrified of his old injury flaring up again. After a day of playing soccer with his dad, Qichi is extra cautious back home, fearing his mom will discover he's been using pain relief spray. His fears are almost realized, and Lin Yifan, worried, bans him from the upcoming school sports meet.

Desperate, Qichi pleads with his mom. His class lacks athletes, and his absence would be a major blow. Chen Huan'er, witnessing the scene, takes pity and promises Qichi she'll participate. Moved, Qichi brings her homemade food the next day and starts training her intensely. Qi Qi also signs up for the 800-meter race, hoping Song Cong would train with her. But Song Cong declines, as he's chosen to be an announcer instead.

Huan'er, with Qichi and Song Cong's support, pushes herself in training. She's hiding her poor health from her mother, Qian Lina. During the sports meet, Qichi secretly competes, causing Huan'er, watching from the stands, to worry. The women's 1500-meter race is next, and Song Cong gives Huan'er a special shout-out from the announcer's booth, boosting her confidence. Huan'er gives it her all, determined to challenge herself, and successfully finishes the race. However, she collapses immediately afterward. Song Cong rushes her to the nurse's office, where they discover she has low blood sugar and is generally frail.

While Song Cong gets food for Huan'er, Qi Qi learns Huan'er is on her period and rushes to buy her sanitary pads. Song Cong, seeing Qi Qi at the store, offers to pay for her items, leading to an awkward moment when Qi Qi reveals what she's buying. Qichi arrives with news of Huan'er's third-place finish, securing their class's overall victory! Overjoyed, they rush to celebrate, even confronting a rival class who taunts them, with the usually aloof Qi Qi joining in the defense.

After the competition, Huan'er, Song Cong, and Qichi visit their mothers at the hospital cafeteria. Chen Lina notices the needle mark on Huan'er's hand and becomes frantic, suspecting she participated in the sports meet. Both Song Cong and Qichi sense her overreaction. Intrigued, Song Cong asks his mother, Hao Mei, if Huan'er had a past illness. Hao Mei is evasive, warning him not to bring it up with Chen Lina. Song Cong, now in a better mood after changing classes, faces his mother's continued disapproval of him studying medicine.

Back home, Huan'er examines a suture scar on her head and finds comfort in online messages from friends. Qichi, having learned about Huan'er's past illness from his father, encourages her to take care. The next day, Song Cong brings Huan'er breakfast and candy, while Qichi uses humor to ease any awkwardness, understanding Huan'er's desire to be treated normally.

The episode concludes with plans for a class activity. Qi Qi invites everyone for milk tea to discuss book selections. Qichi tries to impress Qi Qi by claiming to be a bookworm, but Song Cong exposes his lie. Qi Qi invites Huan'er to her luxurious home to choose a book. Qi Qi lives in a spacious apartment with a piano, but she prefers playing the ukulele and dreams of traveling. Huan'er decides to pick a book from her own collection, feeling it would be more representative. However, her books are ordinary, and she ends up selecting a "Neuropsychology" textbook from behind her mother's medical books.
