Wen Yifan orders two bowls of noodles at her usual study spot – one for herself and one for an unseen companion across the table. She receives a call from Sang Yan, who assures her that he'll definitely be attending Nanwu University with her. Wen Yifan smiles and nods, a subtle acknowledgment of their shared future.
Back at the apartment, Mu Chengyun, seemingly out of nowhere, informs Sang Yan that he'll be Wen Yifan's next roommate. He then proceeds to tour the apartment, much to the discomfort of the current occupants. Wen Yifan, trying to smooth things over, mentions that Sang Yan is usually easy to get along with. However, when Mu Chengyun attempts to enter Sang Yan's bedroom, both Wen Yifan and Sang Yan firmly object in unison. Wen Yifan explains that she's uncomfortable and unaccustomed to living with men, making an exception only for Sang Yan. After Mu Chengyun leaves, Wen Yifan asks Sang Yan how long he plans to stay. He turns the question back on her, asking how long she wants him to stay. Wen Yifan, flustered, retreats to her room without answering.
The episode delves into Wen Yifan's internal struggles. She reflects on her father's death and the fear of losing people she cares about. This fear makes her resistant to forming close attachments, even with Sang Yan, who has promised to always be there for her. She'd rather not grow accustomed to someone's presence if they might eventually leave.
Meanwhile, Su Haoan's grandfather pays a visit, looking for Zhong Siqiao. Su Haoan, in a panic, calls Zhong Siqiao for help, and she rushes over, canceling her own plans. The grandfather, after checking the apartment, realizes the two aren't actually living together. He advises Zhong Siqiao that if they're serious about marriage, they need to understand each other's habits.
Sang Yan, in a recurring theme, cooks too much porridge again. However, Wen Yifan doesn't help him finish it, reinforcing her internal decision to avoid becoming too reliant on him. Mu Chengyun brings breakfast for Wen Yifan, which she declines. He pointedly tells her to figure out who really cares for her, but Wen Yifan counters that she can distinguish between bad habits.
At work, Wen Yifan experiences professional difficulties. Director Gan from the finance department informs her that her interview has been canceled because of the incident at Yihe Daily. Adding to her stress, Wen Yifan's mother visits her at the TV station, claiming she's spoken with Wen Yifan's aunt and wants to make amends, seeking forgiveness.
Back in the office, a heated debate erupts between Director Gan and the advertising department director about the Yihe Daily incident. This time, Wen Yifan doesn't shy away. She bravely defends herself and clarifies the situation. Later, Wen Yifan returns home after 10 PM without informing Sang Yan. When he tries to question her, she quickly retreats to her room.
That night, Wen Yifan sleepwalks again. Sang Yan, observing her, notices a pattern: her sleepwalking occurs when she's upset or has been drinking. She walks to Sang Yan's room, pauses at the door, and then enters. Sang Yan rushes to intervene, and Wen Yifan, in her sleepwalking state, obediently returns to her own room.
The next day, Mu Chengyun asks Wen Yifan to accompany him to the mall, claiming he needs help picking out a gift for his mentor's daughter. Wen Yifan refuses. Undeterred, Mu Chengyun notices something on Wen Yifan's neck and reaches out to touch it. Wen Yifan, startled, recoils and swats his hand away.
Sang Zhi, Sang Yan's younger sister, visits. Sang Yan is out, so Wen Yifan chats with her about her college entrance exams. Sang Zhi reveals that she's applied to Yihe University. Her family is mostly supportive, but Sang Yan is upset, reminding Sang Zhi of how he felt after his first love dumped him after his own exams.
Wen Yifan has a bruise on her arm from bumping into glass during her sleepwalking. Sang Yan, deeply concerned, meticulously applies anti-collision strips to all the sharp corners in the apartment. That night, the sleepwalking Wen Yifan opens Sang Yan's door and lies down on his bed.
