Episode Summary
Wen Yifan and Sang Yan's relationship deepens as they navigate his injury and her emotional breakthroughs. Che Xingde is sentenced to death for his crimes, bringing closure to Wen Yifan. Sang Yan hints at marriage, and Wen Yifan invites him to her company's gala, solidifying their commitment.

Wen Yifan messages Sang Yan, letting him know that her new internship is keeping her busy, and she might not have time for games. Sang Yan is visibly disappointed. He keeps himself online, hoping to catch her, and even starts flying to Yihe every month to buy newspapers featuring Wen Yifan's articles, just to catch a glimpse of her.
Later, Sang Yan's hand is heavily bandaged. Wen Yifan feels guilty, blaming herself for always seeming to bring him bad luck. She resolves to protect him better in the future. In a taxi, Sang Yan playfully acts up, and even when Wen Yifan tries to pull her hand away, he holds on tight, even if it hurts his injury.
Back at home, Wen Yifan takes care of Sang Yan, helping him with his medication. When it's time for him to shower, she insists on helping, but Sang Yan pushes her into the bedroom, claiming he can manage. He struggles to even take off his clothes. Wen Yifan hesitates at the bathroom door, then pushes it open, offering to help him bathe. She washes his body, but Sang Yan stops her before things go too far, saying he's scared, even if she isn't. As she's about to leave, he pulls her back, and they share a passionate kiss.
The episode shifts focus to Che Xingde, who is now in criminal detention. Wen Yifan, reporting the news, is finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, the weight of this case lifted from her shoulders. A flashback reveals that Che Xingde had found Guo Ling crying outside her home. After the incident, Che Yanqin (Che Xingde's sister) secretly took out a large bag. Che Xingde, in tears, confessed to Che Yanqin that he hadn't meant to hurt Guo Ling and begged for her help. They buried Guo Ling together.
In court, Che Xingde confesses to his crimes. He is sentenced to death, with permanent deprivation of political rights. Che Yanqin receives a three-year prison sentence. Wen Yifan, present at the trial, finally finds closure and freedom from her past trauma.
Wen Yifan picks up Sang Yan from work. She sees Zheng Kejia talking to Sang Yan, who later explains that Zheng Kejia wants Wen Yifan to visit home, but Wen Yifan isn't ready. Passing a candy stall, Wen Yifan buys a bag of candy. She tastes a few, commenting that they're not sweet but have a strong milky flavor. Sang Yan, looking at her, says he wants to try, and then kisses her.
Sang Yan hints at wanting to get married. Wen Yifan is slow to catch on. Sang Yan assures her he'll support her in everything except changing partners, emphasizing that life shouldn't be about settling, but about following one's own desires. Wen Yifan says she's grown and, with Sang Yan's support, feels free to be herself without worrying about others' opinions.
Sang Yan suggests Wen Yifan spend the New Year with his family. She shyly agrees. She also invites him to her TV station's annual gala, mentioning that she has a performance and has already confirmed that she can bring a family member.
