Spoiler Alert
Nanwu No. 1 High School is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the nostalgia is thick in the air. Su Haoan and Zhong Siqiao are snapping photos everywhere, and they run into Sang Yan and Wen Yifan. Wen Yifan casually mentions how different it would be if they met at graduation, and took photos all over. This sparked something in Sang Yan. He runs to the steps and loudly calls Wen Yifan's name, and she plays along, pretending as if they are meeting for the first time. Sang Yan then takes Wen Yifan to their old classroom, sitting in their usual corner seats, and the memories come flooding back. We're transported to their first year of high school, when Wen Yifan introduced her nickname as Shuangjiang. Sang Yan, ever the playful one, used this as an opportunity to get her attention – and it worked.
The two are lost in their own world, reminiscing. Wen Yifan recalls a time when she was kicked out of the dance studio by other students, and Sang Yan came to her rescue. His constant defense of her even led their teacher to believe they were a couple, resulting in a stern lecture. To avoid further misunderstandings, Wen Yifan tried to distance herself, but Sang Yan kept finding ways to be near her. Slowly, Wen Yifan began to enjoy the feeling of being cared for and loved, and a budding romance began. However, their parents were called in, forcing Wen Yifan to transfer schools, beginning their long-distance relationship. Even then, Sang Yan continued to silently support and protect her, until their eventual breakup after the college entrance exams.
The sound of the school bell snaps Wen Yifan back to the present. Sang Yan has changed into a school uniform and created a blackboard drawing for her. Just as she's admiring it, Su Haoan and Zhong Siqiao, also in uniform, walk in and sit down in front. Then, their old homeroom teacher, Teacher Zhang, appears via video, reminiscing about the time Sang Yan and Wen Yifan were late to class. He expresses his joy at seeing them together after all these years.
Sang Yan's mother and friends also send their blessings through video messages, moving Wen Yifan to tears. Sang Yan pulls out a small bouquet of yellow flowers from his desk and takes the opportunity to confess his unwavering love, promising to always be there for her. Wen Yifan happily agrees. He then presents a music box, but, due to his nervousness, the little dancer inside fails to move. Slightly embarrassed, he still bravely asks Wen Yifan for a promise: that if she stays with him, all her wishes will come true. Finally, with hopeful eyes, he asks, "Will you marry me?" Wen Yifan whispers "yes," and Sang Yan quickly slips a ring onto her finger. Wen Yifan lovingly wipes away a tear from his eye, and they share a passionate kiss. Su Haoan and Zhong Siqiao tactfully exit the classroom.
Later, Wen Yifan learns that the ring Sang Yan gave her is shaped like a ribbon, symbolizing that they are each other's most precious gift. The blackboard drawing contains Sang Yan's heartfelt message: a modified version of W.B. Yeats's "When You Are Old," expressing his enduring love for Wen Yifan, even as they age, and recalling the passionate pursuit of their dreams.
The episode ends with a flashback to the day their story began. Sang Yan's basketball landed on Wen Yifan's book. He was curious about her intense focus, and she showed him the cover: "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit." Inside, she had highlighted her favorite line: "I desire someone fiercely to love me until death, to know that love is as strong as death, and to always stand by my side."
