Spoiler Alert
High school was rough for Wen Yifan, who constantly dealt with whispers and gossip. Sang Yan, ever the silent protector, starts showing his concern. He subtly follows her during her runs, offering to be her "running buddy."
Back in the present, Wen Yifan comes home from work to find movers bustling around. Sang Yan, glued to his phone, claims a cat climbing frame being brought in was just a "bundled item." Later, while Wen Yifan is playing with the cat, Sang Yan sends her a whopping 18,000 yuan. She returns 520 yuan, thinking he overpaid. Sang Yan, seeing the number 520 (which sounds like "I love you" in Chinese), immediately sends a question mark. Wen Yifan, after sending him the itemized bill, realizes her mistake and sheepishly asks for 15 yuan back.
Meanwhile, Zhong Siqiao wakes up in a major "what happened last night?" situation. She finds herself naked in bed with Su Haoan, and neither of them has any memory of the night before. They check the security footage, which shows a very drunk Zhong Siqiao being carried home by an equally drunk Su Haoan. It looks… consensual. Zhong Siqiao confides in Wen Yifan that their old friend, Xiang Lang, is back in town and needs a place to stay. Sang Yan, overhearing this, is all ears, relieved when Wen Yifan mentions she already has a roommate.
Sang Yan suggests Wen Yifan's get-together be at his bar, "Jiaban," and quickly reserves a spot for them, though he can only offer a meager 1% discount. Wen Yifan teases him, saying the place looks like a hair salon and the sign isn't noticeable. Sang Yan, remembering the first time she came to Jiaban and called him the "top stylist," throws his head back and walks away, saying he'll listen to suggestions but won't change a thing.
At work, Wen Yifan faces sexual harassment from a colleague while reviewing footage. She spills coffee in a panic and runs out. This triggers memories of a similar situation at her previous job, leaving her feeling silenced and victimized. The same rumors begin to swirl at Nanwu TV station.
On the way back from an interview, Wen Yifan bumps into her half-sister, who says she's back in Nanwu but won't be staying with Wen Yifan's family, purely for her own sake. As it starts to snow, Wen Yifan thinks of her father, who gave her the nickname "Shuangjiang" (First Frost) because she was born on that day. Sang Yan, worried about Wen Yifan being out late, uses it as an excuse to ask her to keep him updated. She agrees. Back at the apartment, Wen Yifan has an awkward encounter with Duan Jiaxu, who's only wearing a bathrobe, and she reminds Sang Yan, again, about the cohabitation rules.
When it's time for the gathering, Zhong Siqiao and Xiang Lang pick up Wen Yifan. Sang Yan, after hearing about it from Wen Yifan, quickly gets ready and joins them in the elevator. Su Haoan is waiting for Sang Yan outside. Zhong Siqiao orchestrates a big hug between Xiang Lang and Wen Yifan, noting how long it's been. Sang Yan, witnessing this, brazenly invites himself along and even hitches a ride in Xiang Lang's car. He snags the front passenger seat, which Xiang Lang had intended for Wen Yifan, and pointedly adjusts the rearview mirror to focus on her. Su Haoan bluntly asks Xiang Lang if he's in a love triangle with Wen Yifan and Zhong Siqiao, which Xiang Lang flatly denies.
Flashbacks reveal that Wen Yifan used to silently endure rumors in school, but Sang Yan couldn't stand it and stepped in to clear her name. In the car, Xiang Lang asks Sang Yan if he knew Wen Yifan was going to be his roommate. Sang Yan confirms he knew, and that's precisely why he moved in.
