Episode Summary
Zheng Hao's team tracks Da Fei to a nursing home in Pingshan, where a confrontation ensues. Da Fei is killed by Lu Wangshui. Zhan Yi is also killed in a staged accident after attempting to retrieve incriminating invoices. The episode concludes with the dismantling of the invoice fraud ring and Zheng Hao realizing a new suspect, Feng Dakai. Xiong Yi passes his exam.

This episode kicks off with Zheng Hao learning that Da Fei has been making frequent calls to a landline in Pingshan. Determined to track him down, Zheng Hao heads to Pingshan with Gao Peng, Xiong Yi, and Li Xinxin. Zheng Hao, wanting to avoid alerting anyone, has Xiong Yi get a taxi. However, Lu Wangshui gets wind of their plan and urges Zhan Yi to find Da Fei before Zheng Hao's team does.
Zheng Hao and his team arrive at the Pingshan Public Security Bureau, where they meet Zhu Xiaofei and Captain Hong from the Economic Investigation Detachment. Captain Hong reveals the landline belongs to the Pingshan Nursing Home. They immediately head to the nursing home, having already coordinated with the staff.
At the nursing home, the director confirms, based on a police sketch, that a resident named Grandma Ling's grandson is indeed Da Fei. Xiong Yi suggests chatting with Grandma Ling, and Li Xinxin accompanies him. Meanwhile, Zhan Yi and Lu Wangshui also arrive at the nursing home, parking on the back hill to avoid the main entrance.
Xiong Yi and Li Xinxin find Grandma Ling, who is sometimes lucid and sometimes confused. She mistakes Xiong Yi for Da Fei and Li Xinxin for her granddaughter-in-law, clinging to Li Xinxin and reminiscing about Da Fei's childhood. Grandma Ling wants to go to the backyard, so Li Xinxin pushes her wheelchair while Xiong Yi goes to get a coat. Da Fei, who has secretly arrived, sees Xiong Yi and Li Xinxin with his grandmother and hides.
Grandma Ling repeatedly claims Da Fei bought her a big house and gives the house key to Li Xinxin. Suddenly, Da Fei appears, holding Li Xinxin at knifepoint, demanding the key. Grandma Ling tries to stand up to greet Da Fei but falls. Li Xinxin escapes and yells for Xiong Yi. Da Fei helps his grandmother back into her wheelchair and then chases Li Xinxin.
Xiong Yi arrives and fights with Da Fei. Da Fei knocks Xiong Yi unconscious, takes the key from Li Xinxin, and knocks her out. Gao Peng arrives in the backyard, finds Grandma Ling alone, and asks about Xiong Yi and Li Xinxin, but Grandma Ling is too confused to provide clear information. Da Fei flees and runs into Zhan Yi and Lu Wangshui. Lu Wangshui brutally stabs Da Fei to death.
Xiong Yi wakes up disoriented and struggles to find Li Xinxin. He finds her unconscious, carries her down the mountain, but collapses from his injuries. They lean against a tree together. As night falls, a rescue team arrives, joined by Zheng Hao and Gao Peng. They eventually find Xiong Yi and Li Xinxin.
Xiong Yi is shaken, and Zheng Hao advises him not to take such risks again. Li Xinxin wakes up, and Xiong Yi tells her about Da Fei's death. Li Xinxin wants to see Grandma Ling before leaving Linzhou. Zhan Yi, having witnessed Da Fei's murder by Lu Wangshui, fears for his own life. Lu Wangshui tries to reassure him, saying Da Fei's death was necessary for their survival. Lu Wangshui tells Zhan Yi to pack his things and then he will help him to leave.
Captain Pan, after careful analysis, tracks Da Fei's movements and sets up a comprehensive surveillance operation. Zhan Yi goes to see Xiao Si, who refuses to return to Xindong with Lu Wangshui. She worries about Zhan Yi's safety and wants to leave with Xindong. Zheng Hao notices a familiar tattoo on the suspect's arm.
Lu Wangshui sends Zhan Yi to retrieve some invoices, having pre-arranged an ambush to eliminate Zhan Yi. Lu Wangshui sees the police arriving to arrest Zhan Yi and gets out of the car to intercept him. Zhan Yi retrieves the invoices from a safe, sees the police chasing him, and runs away. Lu Wangshui intercepts him and demands the invoices. Zhan Yi flees again, only to be struck and killed by a speeding car at an intersection. Xiao Si can't reach Zhan Yi by phone and is frantic. Captain Pan arrives at the scene and finds Zhan Yi dead. Zhan Yi's phone rings constantly; Captain Pan answers, and Xiao Si learns of Zhan Yi's death, breaking down in grief.
The joint tax and police task force successfully dismantles the invoice fraud ring in Linzhou. Xiao Yilin holds a press conference to commend the task force and urges the public to always request invoices when making purchases. Zheng Hao, absent from the conference, recognizes Zhan Yi as the murderer of Chen Dajun and his wife. Zheng Hao reviews all the clues and realizes that Feng Dakai is highly suspicious. Xiong Yi passes the selection examof Inspection Bureau, and reports to Zheng Hao, who has been up all night.
