Episode Summary
Feng Dakai orders the murder of Zhan Yi and Da Fei to cover his tracks, causing a rift with his daughter, Zhan Si. Zheng Hao identifies Zhan Yi as the killer of Chen Dajun and focuses his investigation on Feng Dakai as the mastermind. Chen Xiaoxing loses a prized tennis racket, and his aunt suggests he change his surname to Zheng. Zheng Hao and his father are not concerned with the name change. Chen Xiaoxing overhears that the killer was found.

The joint task force of tax and police successfully dismantles a major invoice fraud operation in Linzhou. Feng Dakai, fearing exposure, orders Lu Wangshui to eliminate Zhan Yi and Da Fei, two key figures involved, and to bring his daughter, Zhan Si, back to Xindong. Lu Wangshui deceives Da Fei and Zhan Yi, claiming he's sending them abroad for safety. He murders Da Fei, who had gone to a nursing home to say goodbye to his grandmother, and then stages a car accident to kill Zhan Yi. Zhan Si, who had planned to flee the country with Zhan Yi, is devastated by his sudden death and immediately suspects her father, Feng Dakai, is behind it.
Confronting her father in Xindong, Zhan Si accuses him directly. Feng Dakai admits to ordering Lu Wangshui to kill Zhan Yi, citing the numerous crimes Zhan Yi was involved in. He reminds Zhan Si that he had repeatedly warned her against associating with Zhan Yi. Zhan Si is furious, pointing out that Zhan Yi's actions were all to protect Feng Dakai, just like her mother had taken the fall for a murder committed by Feng Dakai years ago.
Feng Dakai, enraged by the comparison, lashes out at Zhan Si. She declares her hatred for him and threatens to turn herself in to the police. Feng Dakai, acknowledging his debt to her, promises to make amends. However, Zhan Si, overwhelmed by grief, collapses at the door. Feng Dakai rushes to help her.
Meanwhile, Zheng Hao identifies Zhan Yi as the murderer of Chen Dajun and his wife six years prior. He reviews all the clues he has gathered, ultimately focusing on Feng Dakai as the potential mastermind. He lacks concrete evidence, but his suspicions are strong. Xiong Yi, who initially suspected the Chang brothers, now learns they've never been to Xindong. Zheng Hao shares his deductions with Xiong Yi, who suggests seeking help from Captain Pan.
Xiong Yi's bravery in saving Li Xinxin has sparked her affection for him. He reports for duty at the Second Inspection Team and shows Li Xinxin a video recorded by Grandma Ling, who mistakes Xiong Yi for her grandson. Li Xinxin expresses her desire to visit Grandma Ling.
Zheng Hao visits Chen Dajun's grave, finally having identified his killer, Zhan Yi. Li Dongjie arrives and pledges his full cooperation in bringing the mastermind to justice. Back in Xindong, Feng Dakai, rattled by the destruction of the Linzhou operation and the stock market turmoil (which has cost him dearly), instructs Lu Wangshui to tighten up their dealings. He's further enraged upon learning that Zheng Hao has adopted Chen Dajun's son, Chen Xiaoxing, and orders Lu Wangshui to "cut the weeds and eliminate the roots," implying a threat to the boy.
Feng Dakai, learning that Zhao Mingda has bought a large number of stocks, calls him with a seemingly innocuous warning not to be hasty. Zheng Hao visits Zhao Mingda that night, discovering that Feng Dakai has been providing Zhao Mingda with consulting work. Zheng Hao reveals that he's identified Chen Dajun's killer, prompting Zhao Mingda to suggest he consult with Chen Xiaoxing.
Li Dongjie's car is old and constantly breaking down, much to his wife's annoyance. He's overwhelmed with work, and receives orders to investigate "Fashion Forward," assigning Li Xinxin and Gao Peng to the task.
Feng Dakai, concerned about Zhan Si, sends Lu Wangshui to keep an eye on her. Zhan Si goes for a motorcycle ride to clear her head. Lu Wangshui tries to persuade her to return home, but Zhan Si lashes out, calling him Feng Dakai's "dog."
Zheng Hao goes to pick up Chen Xiaoxing from school, where Liang Jinqiu is also present to take the boy to tennis practice. She opens up to Zheng Hao, admitting she never hated him. Gao Shubo calls Liang Jinqiu, waiting for her and Chen Xiaoxing at the tennis court.
Lu Qian also calls Zheng Hao, arranging a meeting. Zheng Hao leaves after saying goodbye to Liang Jinqiu. Lu Qian observes Zheng Hao's lingering feelings for Liang Jinqiu and encourages him to pursue a reconciliation. Gao Shubo practices tennis with Chen Xiaoxing. During a break, Chen Xiaoxing goes to the restroom and returns to find his racket missing. It was a 4,000 yuan gift from Zheng Hao, and Chen Xiaoxing is distraught. Liang Jinqiu and Gao Shubo review the court's surveillance footage but can't identify the thief. They promise to buy him a new one.
Zheng Tianchou returns home to find local specialties and a potted orchid, gifts from Chen Xiaoxing's aunt. She had come to Xindong to visit Chen Dajun's grave but had to leave quickly. To thank Zheng Tianchou and Zheng Hao for raising Chen Xiaoxing, she suggests that Chen Xiaoxing change his surname to Zheng. Zheng Hao arrives to pick up Chen Xiaoxing, who apologizes profusely for losing the racket. Zheng Hao consoles him, but Chen Xiaoxing remains deeply upset.
That night, Zheng Hao sees Chen Xiaoxing asleep and quietly leaves. Zheng Tianchou shares Chen Xiaoxing's aunt's suggestion about the surname change, but both he and Zheng Hao agree that the surname is unimportant. Chen Xiaoxing, who has woken up, overhears the conversation, including the part about Zheng Hao finding his parents' killer.
